We were a little disappointed with the sausages, which could be meatier. Also the lady behind the counter was quite rude one day which was a bit of a bummer. People say it's good old fashioned, but could be better.

Very traditional butchers.
Good meat, superb bacon and sausages, nice beef and lamb too.
Not the cheapest but very good quality and reassuringly old fashioned. They don't have a window full of produce but they have most things out back in their cold room if you go in and ask.
Good prices for "traditional" economy cuts unlike some butchers, although their "premium" cuts can cost a little bit more.
They often have local game in season and their pies are good too.

Bells Butchers is a little gem, the quality of their meat is far superior to supermarkets and other butchers. The staff are also extremely knowledge about different cuts of meat which are more reasonable and often tastier, especially if you have a slow cooker. There pork sausages, chipolatas and bacon are the best I've ever tasted.

We buy our meat only from Bells, it is higher priced than the meat from nearby Tesco (expected as the quality at Bells is superior), but Bells is no more expensive than the likes of M&S yet the quality is definitely better. The red meats are excellent of course, however a good comparison is the chicken breast; I cook ones from Bells and they remain plump and tasty. From the supermarkets in the past, they ended up half the size, bland and with water sloshing in the pan. Hence Bells is better value for money in my books.

All the meat I've bought here has been excellent. An old-school, reliable quality butcher and a pleasant experience. Update: bought my Christmas meat here. Ham and sausages were outstanding and the turkey was hands down the best we've ever had.

Fantastic sausages and great value meat. Not the pretentious butchers you find in some places. Staff really helpful and lots of great value and tasting cuts available. There really is a good reason it's been there so long..
