I would recommend purchasing a Barratts home as long as you do not require any after care during your 2 year warranty!
Each time Customer Care have been contacted to report an issue, or chase up existing issues, you find you are passed from pillar to post as when you call, you are repeatedly allocated a new advisor for the area, as none of the staff seem to stay, and the new member of staff allocated then has no record of anything reported previously, so you are back to square one, and in the meantime, no closer to a resolution!
Just to put in perspective, we are still waiting for items to be attended to, and we are now outside of our 2 year Barratts warranty, with one of the items being reported October 2023 (during the warranty period), Barrett’s confirmed this was to be attended to during the last week in November 2023, this did not happen, and since then, someone has attended to carry out a very shoddy repair of repointing.
On calling Customer Care to complain regarding the poor standard of work, another contractor was sent round, they removed some mortar and one of the brick vents, and left large gaps to the front of the property.
The last contractor who attended to look at the job advised he would return shortly with a ladder, well that was 6 weeks ago and he still hasn’t returned, so I can only assume he is still wandering around Wigmore Park somewhere looking for this ladder, poor bloke!
Following this shambles 6 weeks ago, we have waited until today when an appointment had been arranged, and yet again, contractors are a no show which is certainly not the first time!
Baring in mind we are 11 months down the line with this issue, and again, are no closer to a resolution!
Also, I would recommend to fully check your kitchens, as we have had a gloss filler panel fitted, instead of matt effect, and as Symphony no longer manufacture this kitchen type, we now have to ‘make do’ with the incorrect filler panel in the kitchen and this cannot be changed, so why a 2 year warranty is offered on kitchens, I have no idea, as Barratts are unable to uphold this!
Maybe when this was reported in January of this year, if they had kept record of this and dealt with it in January, the kitchen may still have been manufactured at this point, rather than advising us now nothing can be done, 8 months later after reporting it, and between January and August, we were advised the part was on order numerous times on chasing this up!!
Also, if your upstands fail in your kitchen, this is something Barratts also do not replace during your 2 year warranty, however, they will kindly send a length of upstand out for you fit yourself, despite the fact you are in your warranty period!
I can see many of these comments on here Barratts respond to with an update to say they have been in touch, but that’s the problem, that’s all it is, someone calls and nothing happens from there!
So in conclusion, we cannot not recommend Barratts enough, they take your money and any issues, they don’t want to know!
Hopefully we have more of a positive experience with NHBC, case has been logged today, as Barratts have had enough opportunities in the meantime to resolve issues!
They pride themselves on their build quality and awards received, shame they can’t say they same about their after care!

Very knowledgable & personable sales person - John Jackson. Booked an appointment to enquire & ended up buying off paper, nice to be able to see our new home built from the ground up. Had plenty of communication from John throughout the different build stages with pictures internally and externally, and always has time for us whenever we want to pop in.

Also very open & honest with progress and potential issues, which is fine as long as they're communicated, which they have been all the way through (no major issues might I add). If we had a question that John didn't know the answer to, he always made sure to find out and always came back to us with the relevant information.

I don't give out reviews very often but this is very well deserved. Looking to complete end of the month & finally get in to our new home & we can't wait!
