Terrible customer service ordered fusion paint samples and Maria admitted to sending them to the wrong address, she asked me to check this wrong address which made me feel awkward which at the end of the day wasn't my responsibility, but I did the person who lived there was away so I asked for a refund, about £30 of sample pots , to this date I have not received anything I! And no response to my emails, as you can imagine I'm not happy will not use this company again, and her rudeness in emails is not acceptable, I've lost work now due to their mistake ... totally out of order , do not use this company unless you can pick up the order ..

Fantastic, friendly shop. Really unusual gifts including sterling silver jewellery, scented candles, furniture, paint and accessories. All handmade by local artisans. Maria is a font of knowledge and advice on upcycling/painting furniture. Well worth a visit. They also do workshops which are great fun!

The response to my review so long after this incident is a complete lie. No I had the cushion a week, only because I couldn’t get back to Ampthill because I live in and work in Bedford. I noticed the smell immediately when I got home as it was giving me and my housemate a headache and tried to air it with no improvement. For the rest of the week I left it tied up in a bag in the boot of my car because the smell was too strong to have in the house. I phoned up on Saturday a week after I bought the cushion and you told me to come over to discuss it. When I arrived you refused to refund me my money giving me a wasted journey in time and petrol money and so I left the cushion with you as I didn’t want it due to the smell. How rude to lie in your response.

Really disappointed with being refused a refund when I tried to return a £20 cushion bought from the shop which had a chemical smell that was giving myself and housemates headaches. The owner stated she could not resell this item and that it didn’t smell even though I could smell the scent as I entered the shop. Don’t buy soft furnishings from this shop. Just very sad to have lost my money and not be able to enjoy the product and the lack of customer service. I left the cushion at the shop as I didn’t want it in the house.

I attended the wreath making course this morning it was friendly, relaxed and informative. We came away with a beautiful Christmas wreath to hang on our front door.

I could not recommend Maria more highly!

I wanted to upcycle an old unloved pine chest of drawers for my children’s bedroom. The brief was unicorns and pink and I expected pink drawers with some unicorn stencils. What Maria made is nothing short of a work of art. She is a fantastic artist and I am only sorry that my rubbish photo does not do her work justice.

Thank you so much for creating such a beautiful piece of furniture for us which will be treasured for years to come.

Walked in a few weeks ago as a small business owner I loved the concept. I noticed the little workshop at the back which had a sign stating ‘do not touch anything in the workshop’ which is fine- we didn’t. My partner got shouted at for simply walking 1 foot into the workshop browsing. There is not a sign saying do not walk in there. The lady was extremely rude and unfortunately we walked straight out and will not visit again. We wouldn’t mind if we were asked politely but the lady shouted so abruptly the whole store went silent.

Truly love this store, such wonderful pieces of furniture, a huge & varied selection of gorgeous products, beautiful items & creative crafts to purchase. Maria is so talented & extremely helpful. The items she creates you can’t help but want to buy, I even brought one to go into a room I hadn’t yet even had built, but loved it so much I had to have it (luckily the extension is nearly finished, phew!). Worth a visit. Highly recommend!

Absolutely Shabbylass is a great little shop, run by Maria, who is lovely. She re-vamps furniture and makes it into something really special and unique. She also stocks Annie Sloan products so that you can do the same yourself and runs workshops to teach you too.
The shop is also filled with gifts and crafts, made by local craftspeople and artisans. You will always find an excellent selection of beautiful items.
Well worth a visit - take your pocket money (or your credit card!). Definitely first stop for a unique and special piece of furniture, or a lovely hand crafted gift.
