Friendly and helpful staff. I actually went next door to rutland treasures. Worth a visit. They do house clearances and sell the items in the shop.so things do get changed about.

Used this village store as I was moving on doing the Rutland Round and the place I was staying at on a Monday night (not a bank holiday) the pub was not open but the accommodation was!!

Compelled to write a review after a miserable experience collecting a parcel. Ordered to Barbara's via click and collect through Evri and received a notification saying it had been delivered.

The older lady (Barbara?) behind the till could not have been more accusing and hostile. "Who did you ask for permission to have your parcel delivered here"

I was rather taken aback by this, and after a very grumpy exchange involving her and the younger man in the store, it transpired that the company made a mistake and delivered the parcel as if it Barbara's store was my personal address. The store gets a small commission for click and collect which they didn't get for my parcel. I apologised and explained that I simply chose their store as the click and collect option at the online checkout, and had no idea why this had happened. This did nothing to appease them however.

1 star experience, but giving an extra star because they did (reluctantly) hand over my parcel in the end.

Looking at previous reviews it doesn't sound like I'm the first person to get on the wrong side of the unfriendly staff at Barbara's store. Go to the village shop in Edith Weston instead.

Barbara was an absolute pleasure to meet, really kind and welcoming.

I bought fresh fruit and a sweet treat at a reasonable price but also left with a smile for absolutely free.

You would think a small village shop would have a warm welcome. Anything but! Greeted with silence, no eye contact at the till and a half hearted thanks once youve paid . Experienced this several times with the older lady and younger one, not sure who's worse. Never again
