We really loved this hotel. We came for a friend's wedding but stayed on a extra day to explore the local area. The hotel is a gorgeous old manor house dating back hundreds of years. It is nicely preserved and you can tell it is lovingly maintained. It features some great features like the old well in the dining area, fireplace in the bar area and lots of wooden beams. The hotel is also surrounded by lovely gardens full of all kinds of plants from roses, to apples trees and fig trees. There is also a massive lawn and it is nice to have a drink and look out across the grass. ||The room was very nice with a big four-poster bed as the focal point. The general ambience of the hotel is one of calm and cosiness. The breakfast is a la carte and everything I tried was delicious and high quality.||Another thing that has to be mentioned is how nice the staff are. They are all so friendly, polite and helpful. In particular I'd like to thank the Manager (Kevin) who looked after us so well during our stay and Adam who did a great job in the restaurant. Everyone was very accommodating of our young children who were staying with us. We hope to return sometime!||I'd highly recommend this as a wedding venue or for a short leisure break.

Our first impressions of this hotel were simply wow. The grounds and building are amazing. It was just as impressive inside. We were both happy that we were staying in such a beautiful place and this continued as we entered our room which had amazing views and was very cozy. Unfortunately this feeling was dampened when we picked up the rooms welcoming pack. In all the hotels we have ever stayed in, never has there been a list of extensive charges for lost to damaged items. It states that if you break or lose items whilst staying or after leaving the hotel your credit card that they are holding will be charged. Isn’t this obvious and expected by the guest? It wasn’t very welcoming. Moving on, our room was very clean but the bathroom felt tired and needed a bit of maintenance done. The toilet seat was loose, shower curtain rail had rusted, window latch was broken. All these things could be fixed at such a small cost. We did point out to reception that the toilet seat was very loose and to be fair was sorted out immediately. One thing for sure about this hotel is that all the staff are very friendly, helpful and are attentive to all your needs. Apart from these niggling issues we would definitely want to return at some point.

Our wedding at Howfield Manor was truly perfect in every way. From the moment we started planning, the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was just right. A special mention goes to Muriel, who was on leave during our wedding but made sure every detail was meticulously planned before the big day. Her dedication and careful organization gave us complete confidence and made the whole process stress-free.

On the day itself, Kevin, the manager, made sure everything ran without a single fault. His attention to detail and calm presence allowed us to fully enjoy every moment. The food was outstanding, and we’ve received countless compliments from our guests about both the meals and the flawless service. We also want to highlight Bishmil, who went above and beyond by sourcing non-alcoholic wine at short notice and ensuring we were fully taken care of throughout the day. Nothing was ever too much for him.

The entire team worked so hard to make our wedding day perfect, and they truly succeeded. From the smooth running of the event to the warmth and attentiveness of the staff, there isn’t a single thing we or our guests could fault. We are so grateful to Kevin, Bishmil, Muriel, and the entire team for giving us a day we’ll treasure forever!

A lovely old building with well kept grounds. We only stayed one night, which was a Sunday so diner was the usual choice of roast beef, chicken or pork with all the trimmings and it was very good. Breakfast was also very good too, I had eggs benedict (eggs cooked but runny yolk) and my wife had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon which she said was also very good. Only gripe: the ice machine was broken and apparently had been for a week, so get some ice delivered in giant bags. Our room (No16) was large, clean and pleasant but the bathroom could do with a refresh, bot the radiator and the shower curtain pole were rusty. A good location though and if I was in that area I would happily stay again.

Room 2 needs a new door as can see through to the landing not a proper door! Sheets were clean but had some stains on them, no bathroom blind shower very poor and toilet did not flush properly room very dated. The breakfast was average the young man serving was very polite. When checking out did mention to the reception lady but were not interested. We come down often to family and would not use this hotel again or recomend which is a shame as it has great grounds but just needs a complete refurbishment

In the area on business and stayed at Howfield Manor for one night. Interesting building in nice grounds. Food at dinner was good, I had Duck which was chef's recommendation. Served by young Isabelle who coped well under pressure, despite being there for only 2 months. Room clean and comfortable, although had to ask for TV to be sorted as it was not working on arrival.
