This is a wonderful place, full of beauty and history.

Highly recommend a visit, suitable for all ages. Staff are really helpful and engaging. Taking time to explain displays to my six year old was a lovely touch.

Spent about three hours here, really enjoyed the gardens and touring around the house.

Cafeteria was lovely too, again great service and reasonable prices.

The house is beautiful inside and out. The gardens are a work in progress and not at their best ATM but still very lovely. Appreciated the on-site EV chargers and investment in sustainable energy. Quite a steep entrance fee as we had hoped to use our 241 gardeners world card (only valid on Saturdays as we discovered). Nevertheless highly recommended.

I bought the bbc gardener's world magazine in May for 9.99. It has a voucher inside, 2 for 1 gardens/ over 380 gardens to visit. The price for Athelhampton for a single ticket is 15.00 so straight away I have saved 5.00 on my 1st garden taking the price of the magazine into consideration. The grade 1 heritage listed gardens are lovely to walk through, so peaceful and the house which I paid extra to go round was full of history ( 7.50 ). We were there for at least 2 hrs. There are toilets, picnic area and a restaurant to aid your visit. There was plenty of room in the carpark when we arrived mid May. I would recommend a visit here, the staff are very helpful.

Fascinating house and beautiful gardens. The staff were friendly and the guide in the house was really knowledgeable answering our questions. So interesting to find out how the house had changed over time and its connection with Thomas Hardy.
