Recently visited to celebrate a friends birthday. We booked afternoon tea. Wow, there was so many sandwiches we couldn't finish them. Had to take some cakes home in a doggy bag. All was delicious!
In a great warm setting and very convenient central location with free parking is a big perk!
Will definitely return again.

We had a great stay! The room was lovely and clean—room 28, which faced the car park. It was convenient to park the car right outside. The room was well-equipped with a Nespresso machine, tea-making facilities, and high-quality hand wash and shower gel, all of which added a touch of luxury.||The staff were fantastic—friendly bar staff and cheerful waitresses serving breakfast made our experience delightful. Breakfast itself was fantastic, and we were lucky to have a seat by the window, which added to the experience.||The only minor downside was some noise from pub guests late into the night. However, as we stayed on a Saturday, it’s hard to complain too much.||Overall, a great stay, and we’d happily return!||---

Stayed here while visiting the town.
Very quaint and was very pleased when I walked in to a lovely oldie worldie pub setting then into a modern well decorated reception area, I was greeted by a lovely lady who confirmed that I could have an early check-in and then once I seen my room I was glad to have booked here and not at the airport hotels.
My room was very clean and beautifully decorated and i loved that Classic FM was playing on the radio in my room when I entered it. Had a great meal in the restaurant that evening where the lovely young girl and lad made me feel really welcomed and taken care of and not just myself but the other guests in tn the restaurant too. My bed was so comfortable and had a really great sleep.
In the morning I had a beautiful breakfast with a few really lovely options to choose from. I will definitely be booking a room here again and visiting it with friends and family. 5 ⭐ from me!!

I recently visited The Saracens Head with friends for Afternoon Tea.
The hotel itself is incredibly welcoming and ideally situated in a central location. From start to finish the service was outstanding. We were celebrating a special Birthday and the staff were super accommodating to our requests for additional cakes and decorations.
A big thank you to Mandy, Will and Simon who were attentive and made our event extra special.
The Afternoon Tea itself was lovely with a fantastic selection of sandwiches and cakes with the added bonus of being very reasonably priced.
All in all I would highly recommend the hotel and will definitely be returning.

Excellent staff, nothing was too much trouble!||We arrived late due to a delayed flight and missed our dinner reservation. Although the kitchen was closing, the lady at reception swiftly took our order and managed to ensure we got our meal. She continued to offer exceptional service throughout our time in the restaurant. ||All the staff we met during our stay were friendly, approachable and very helpful. We will definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises.||Thanks!

Wonderful place, great staff and Fantastic atmosphere!||Was welcomed at the reception by Mandy. She told me everything I needed to know Breakfast and Dinner times, check out times, best way to get to my rooms and local taxi numbers.|Stacy was a star at serving us in the restaurant and recommended the specials which were amazing (compliments to the chefs)|Andrew was serving at the bar, knew his beers and was very friendly and chatty.|On check out, I was asked if I had a nice time and offered a copy of my invoice think the gentleman's name was Luke.||Would recommend visiting Great Dunmow and the Saracens head to all

STAY. Lovely friendly reception and tasty lunch before going to our room which was comfy and spacious. Sadly it was a little chilly in the room as we were told the heating had a problem. Tasty breakfast but perhaps the waiters could be a little less keen and let us finish our cereal before asking for our next choice. Overall a lovely stay and we will come again.
