I hope they stay closed. I've been there a couple times and they always overcharge on any item. If you have to shop there, call them out for not charging you the price that's on their shelves. This is illegal! They also often seem to have an issue with their card machine, so I recommend to pay in cash to avoid getting double-charged.

Daily theft from drug addicts walk freely in and out of store taking what they want as the owners have not taken on a necessary security guard . Leaving staff vulnerable and I no longer enjoy shopping there watching daily thieves running in and out .

Have not noticed any overcharging at the til. My thoughts are that they're way cheaper and have a wider range, especially of vegan/vegetarian stuff, than the much larger Budgens up the road.

UPDATE 3 WEEKS LATER: AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T PROVIDED ME WITH A REFUND, DESPITE PROMISING TO DO SO. HAVE NOW HAD TO CONTACT MY BANK TO CHASE THIS SHOP. REALLY APPALLING.

Initial review below:-

Absolutely dreadful shop on Haverstock Hill. The shop routinely miscalculates the bill, invariably overcharging. This happened to us recently when an item was advertised in the shop as being on sale for x but the attendant entered a price of y (y being way in excess of x), resulting in the inconvenience of having to have the transaction recomputed.

Even more recently I went into the shop to make a purchase of about £17 for some basic items. I was told to put my debit card in the machine and enter my security pin, which I did, and a message appeared on the machine saying "approved." The attendant said this message had not appeared on his computer screen, so he told me to enter the card and my number again. I asked him to confirm that I wouldn't be charged twice, and he assured me that this would not happen. Accordingly, I re-did the transaction. Well, sure enough, a few hours later TWO £17 charges (£34 in total) appeared on my online bank account. I was furious. Suffice it to say that I went straight up to the shop and ended up having a flaming row with the night staff. The woman there was especially rude. In the end, they accepted they'd overcharged me and claimed to have credited my card with a refund. A week later and the refund still hasn't appeared on my online bank account...

Amazing, isn't it? The £17 went out of my account in hours but is taking forever to be refunded. £17 isn't a lot of money in the scheme of things, but in this cost of living crisis, it may be so for quite a lot of people. And all this to be spoken to in such rude terms. Absolute disgrace.

If you go to the shop (which I'd advise against), pay very careful attention to the figures being input into the cash register and make sure you pay in cash. The latter is a much safer way of paying than using a card. Preferably, however, don't go at all. I've lived in the area for 22 years and this never happened to me at Budgens. Go to Budgens instead. It doesn't take that much longer.

So, this shop always closes at 11pm. I have been there this Saturday to buy some water - 08JUL - and the shop was already closed at 22:40!!! You SHOULDN'T advertise that you close at 11pm and close before. That's totally disrespectful and it's not the first time!!! Please change your opening hours in accordance and avoid people to walk there for nothing!

Every time I have been in there they try to overcharge at the till and charge more than the price on the shelf. If you call them out they drop the price back down but definitely shop elsewhere.

Nice little local convenience store. They have custard apples. And raw dates.

Prices are in line with stores in the area. Decent beer selection. And they have a nice red cheese and onion sandwich.

Friendly staff. Dogs not allowed.

It is a nice addition to the street, in my personal opinion.

They advertise the price lower than what they charge you at the till. This has happened to me and multiple other people on a number of instances.

This is literally illegal! Charge customers what you advertise and don't scam people out of their hard earned money.
