Wonderful spot next to the river. Had a sunny day, so I was happy to be able to sit outside. The food I ordered was tasty. Handy to order from the app. Dog friendly is perfect for our doggy holiday.

We went to the Rose and Crown for our Christmas Day dinner, we had a lovely experience and were really impressed.

What stood out most were the staff members, they worked really hard to ensure we had a great time. They were polite and courteous and regularly checked in with us to make sure everything was okay with our meal.

The food was really nice as well. We left feeling very full as the portions were quite generous, especially the turkey roast dinner. The turkey was cooked really nicely, it was succulent and moist, as turkey is usually quite a dry meat. Following our meal we had the choice of tea or an Americano coffee, with a mince pie and/or chocolate mocha torte to finish.

Our meal was very reasonably priced at £56.99 for four courses, which is half the amount that some other venues charge on Christmas Day. I often find that the better value the price, the more generous the portion size.

Our table was nicely decorated with a centrepiece and crackers, alongside a few Cadbury Heroes chocolates. An extra added touch at the end of our meal was that we were given a small Cadbury selection box, which seemed really kind. The pub was warm and cosy with nice Christmas decorations, I really liked the atmosphere.

The only slight downside was that it seemed at one point that we needed to leave soon when we were still having our mains, as the staff needed our table for a seating after us. We wouldn’t have been able to finish in time without feeling rushed, the staff were very accommodating in finding an alternative table for the group after us.

I would recommend the Rose and Crown for Christmas Day dinner 😊🎄

Did the wivenhoe trail on a hot day and all I wanted when I got there was a pint and a mixed grill that was on the menu. No mixed grills! Got fish and chips instead. Tasted alright but there was about 20 chips. They used plate real estate by putting a pot of mushy peas on the plate and a pot of tartar sauce on the plate. Take the pots off the plates and put more actual food on them!

I love this pub! Cozy, beautiful, delicious food and service. Everything is fine. Many thanks to the owner and staff for organizing Christmas. My friends and I were delighted!:)

An unplanned visit which was very enjoyable on the weekend. We sat outside which was a little chilly but with the lovely hot drinks all was good. I ordered the chicken shawarma flatbread and was very pleasantly surprised in the style and flavour. The Burger and fries were also very tasty.

Good and helpful service and well priced.

The inside is very welcoming and cosy.

The only comment would be that the bench tables outside could do with a lick of paint, and with better planning from our side will visit when the tide is in next time.

Cute little pub on the estuary in Wivenhoe. Sun was out and some little boats sailing past. Atmosphere was good although clearly not enough tables for everyone to have a table each for their party of people and often tables were shared or some customers were unable to get tables outside. Food was pub food standard stuff. Service let it down if I am honest. Very slow and probably quicker to order at the bar than on the app

I often visit here on a Friday night, as part of my mountain bike route, the location is perfect the staff are great and friendly, i wouldn't hesitate to reccomend eating here.

We came for a meal today after walking from Colchester. We had an issue with one of our meals and when we communicated this to the staff, they went above and beyond to make this up to us. I was genuinely so surprised at the kindness shown, we ended up staying longer and ordering deserts as the team were so hospitable! Thanks again
