We had a really, really nice meal here. It was a Friday night and we didn't know we'd be able to go out beforehand so had not made a booking. We were grateful to be accommodated and the atmosophere was very friendly. Also, I was recommended a lager that was absolutely delicious.

Been meaning to try this place since it was recently taken over. It was quite busy so it was a good job we booked a table for 4. They have a good selection of drinks and quite a good menu. The food and service was excellent and quite reasonably priced. We had haddock and chips, a burger, pie and rocket and balsamic tart. It came out quickly and was well presented thank you for a lovely evening.

Amazing food and service. Incredibly accomodating when we arrived with a dog and a baby and made us feel very welcome, even when I accidentally knocked over the dog bowl, full of water! We really enjoyed our meal and left feeling relaxed. Would 100% recommend

We came here for a dinner in August when staying in Whitney. The food was great. There were bot many veggie mains so I bought several of the tapas options s which were very tasty. The steak was very well cooked. We had a spot in the (big) garden as it was just after the first lockdown and it was very comfortable. Good selection of beers and a good price. A very pretty and old fashioned pub in the heart of Whitney.

Sadly a disappointing experience at this pub. I had checked the reviews before booking so we were looking forward to visiting. We were a bit early for our booking but they were able to seat us straight away. We ordered 2 roast beef and although the vegetables and Yorkshire puddings were OK the beef was awful, it was really tough and fatty (even the table behind asked for a sharper knife to cut through it!) I mentioned this to the waitress when she cleared the plates but nothing much was said. We ordered desserts which were nice. A 10% service charge was added to the bill and if you pay using the QR code you can't remove it! Overall the staff were friendly but we were disappointed with the food and the adding of the service charge always leaves a sour taste. We were just passing through but if we were in the area I don't think we'd visit again.

Very lovely pub with lots of small rooms so if you’re sitting down to eat it’s not too crowded or noisy, even when busy.

We went for Sunday lunch. The service was great and the food good. There was good options for kids too, including a mini roast if they wanted. I had the veggie option which was delicious! The food came within a reasonable time, not too fast but we weren’t waiting ages either. Decent portions. My FIL said his fish & chips were the best he’s had in a long time too.

We’ve already flagged it with family as a good option to go to for meet ups so will most likely be back.

Great spot to sit in the sun with a pint and chat with friendly pub goers. Love the vibe here.

Suffers from overpriced menu, as all Oxfordshire pubs do. The burgers look very high end but the taste and meat quality was average. HOWEVER, I hear they may have updated their menu so worth another go.

A very good experience with delicious perfectly cooked salmon and friendly attentive staff.
Met the new owners coincidentally.
A little cramped inside, typical old English pub.
Would go again.
