I had a frustrating experience at Screwfix today. After a long five-hour journey for a job, I chose this store to buy some 2K filler. I sent my 19-year-old apprentice in to collect it while I waited outside in the van, eager to get to my job due to tight time constraints. A few minutes later, my apprentice came out and informed me that he had been age checked.

I went into the store to purchase the filler myself, only to be told that I couldn't buy it because my apprentice had been age checked. I was shocked by this response. I explained to the manager that he could look in my van to see the door I needed the filler for. With over 40 years of experience as a joiner, I have never encountered such a rigid policy.

My company spends around £25,000 to £30,000 a year at Screwfix, so this experience was a significant letdown. I ended up wasting another 30 minutes searching for another store. I could have done without the extra time lost. I will definitely reconsider using this store in the future due to the poor management skills displayed.

Walked in to by a bolt. The guy asked me my address which I gave him, then he asked me for my previous address as he couldn’t find me on their system. I wasn’t expecting to be asked this and couldn’t recall my last postcode, he then remarked that I must have moved around a lot and said he needed this in order to give me a receipt. Is this some kind of joke ? As well as this, I’m asked for my full name, addresses, and email address whilst surrounded by other customers and shop staff. One star is too much. Appalling way to treat customers - never shopping at screw fix again!

I went there the other evening, standing behind another customer, rude staff no welcome or any kind of customer service, just abruptly told him to go to the other counter. All the counters were free as there were only 2 of us in the store. Then my turn came along as I gave the slip rudely replied your card. They have a couple of really helpful and cheerful staff but unfortunately last 2 experience are the opposite.

very poor service today, the store was busy I came to the store to see if order was ready as I hadn't received text but needed item for a job, I was told that I ordered very late to expect to pick up next day, I placed order at 5pm the cut off on website says 8pm for next day (what's not in time with this?).... I was told the orders where not ready for pickup as they had over 100 orders to go though..... I said I needed the item and that usually by 2pm in afternoon I've would have had the text to collect. I asked to cancel as I would have to go elsewhere to get the item I needed urgently, I was told they can't refund until I come back with card, or they would only apply a store credit....pretty sure distance selling act would see that differently for online order. When I mentioned this they looked for the item and it's magically appeared.

For a trade customer we just want to come and collect item and crack on, what's the point of click and collect, if like most of the people in the store we where waiting a while, time is money.

You would have known yesterday or before that the was 100 orders coming in today if they send from DC overnight, to be able to staff your operation, trying to make a customer feel guilty about simply trying to get a service that you've advertised isn't good was to do business if you want our business in the future. If you can't offer the service, they it should be removed from website, it's not the customers fault, nor should they be made to feel bad about the service....

Got too much of one product for a DIY job and was returned with no issues for a full refund. Have used this branch a few times the week and they've had a good selection of products at very competitive prices. 10/10 would recommend.

Very helpful staff and quite cheap to compared to other places. Online and in store catalogue. Place orders online easily and pick up from store of your choice. Great selection of products. Ordered dickies work trousers in store and they were in ready for pickup the next morning. Good quick service. Brilliant

Always good. Good prices / friendly and helpful staff. Fast and efficient. Same products cost x3 in B&Q - who struggle to put the right prices on the things they try to sell.
