The Bear was an amazing discovery. I was camping in the locality visiting a friend who has recently moved to a cottage up the road. The atmosphere was unbelievable, a good old fashioned pub with a log fire, the food was very tasty, with a very good size serving… I had the large mixed roast. The Bear brews it’s own beers… a superb beer .. I had the bear bitter! I could have sunk more than I did. The staffs commitment to providing a brilliant service was exceptional…I’m on my way home now.. I will be back . A great place .. a great experience… fully recommend.. thank you ☺️

In the area for one night and stumbled across this absolute gem, walked into a welcoming atmosphere and greeted kindly by the lovely local people who were enjoying the end of a fabulous live music performance, the staff were so friendly and helpful. Although we were late to arrive, they were still serving food , we ordered the Sunday roast that was quite possibly the best pub food I’ve had for years. Pubs like this are far and few between so 100% recommended as I’m sure we will be back to keep this beautiful place alive.

Great reception from the landlady who made us feel very welcome. She was even prepared to put the football on the tv for us in this rugby loving community. Very nice beer and a good atmosphere in the pub

Had Sunday lunch here today and it was truly excellent. A great "locals" atmosphere, a very friendly welcome, really good ale and really decent food. A highly recommended "proper" pub which I have visited before but never eaten at.

For best results a stroll around Clatworthy reservoir beforehand will give you a suitable thirst and appetite.

What a superb atmosphere! You find a pub which serves good beer, then another with great service and then another with brill’ food. But when you come across one with all of that, and other additional weird quirks, friendly locals and a complete lack of football playing on large screens you get a pretty fantastic atmosphere - and The Bear Inn has this in spades.

A very busy place. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food was plentiful and tasty but I did find the Cider Braised Ham a bit too salty for my taste. Otherwise, a very good meal!

Nice little pub that as one of the few exceptions in the area did food on a Monday. Not cheap, but food was good. Kind staff.
