Another Wetherspoons ticked off our list.. unfortunately we did not try the food this time.

This Wetherspoons is lovely, loved the beams and overall layout inside, bright and clean. There is also a nice garden outside area which is a huge bonus.

Within the pub it was nice to see dart boards, apparently they host charity events.

The pub is situated on the main road through Witham and has a zebra crossing directly outside, making it easy to cross the busy road.

The staff were pleasant and friendly.

The pub had a welcoming atmosphere and is certainly one of the best we have visited.

We shall be returning to The Battesford Court.

So first off let me start by saying unbeatable value. Food was very reasonably priced also included drinks.

However a few negatives unfortunately.

Firstly the staff didn't feel the friendliest to say the least. They want directly rude but it felt like they were not really happy to be serving you however they soon changed to smiley and pleasant to what I'm guessing were the regulars while they were being served.

The food wasn't quite up to scratch to be honest.

The nachos were a bit off and had chopped up raw chilies on them which were a little bitter and next to zero cheese which ended up making them very bland.

I ordered the hottest curry 🥘 on the menu and was not even remotely spicy and looked like it had dried out a little. Also the rice was a bit clumped. Though I will say was still tasty enough and did finish just disappointed about how mild it was.

The pizzas on the other hand were delicious 😋 but unfortunately didn't come with any sides which would have been nice.

Anyhow as I said at the top it was great value and it was pleasantly cosy so I will be going again as this could have just been an off day and that's understandable.

Will never go here again! The staff were rude, discriminating and thought it funny to shout out 'Timmy' to a disabled person.. grow up and let's hope that you don't suffer a disability.. shocking but guess that's Wetherspoons. Also got food poisoning, probably didn't help by the number of flies around the place, the dirty plates piled up high by the kitchen area, plates left on tables and as for the toilets they have never been cleaned in their life, I had to be surgically removed from the floor it was so sticky! The worst spoons I have visited and I have been to a few... AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

We had dinner at Wetherspoons on Friday and there was a mistake with our order. They corrected the mistake but we ordered scampi and unfortunately my 80 year old mum and myself end up with food poisoning. My mum was very ill over night and took a couple of days to recover.
We tried to contact the store to inform them if the problem but no one answered we tried multiple times.
I then completed a contact sheet and explained there had been a problem with the food. We then received an email some days later asking us to fill out a form that was very extensive and involved. I had hoped that maybe some one would give us a call to speak to us about the situation but sadly no contact other than email.

I guess the reality is that despite our concern the branch is not concerned so I advise you not to eat at this venue. It also appears that people have complained for the last 8 months about the whole facility, including food. Sadly nothing has changed so I will not be returning to this wetherspoons.

Recently moved back to the area and had a few meals. Went on a Sunday morning for breakfast, hardly anyone was there, whilst we waited for our food two others sent their food back. I sent my scrambled egg back as it was like a rubber ball- the same food came back out. Paid out for a hot chocolate on the app to be told there was no hot chocolate as the machine broke- why still show it on the app? Another time we visited for the kitchen to be shut due to an error, no signs up on the door to tell you at the time. Every time we go there is something wrong, I won't be rushing back. I would much rather drive to the one in Braintree as we never had issues there.

The Battesford Court is a large historic hotel that has been turned into a very good Wetherspoons. It's nice and cosy with exposed beams. There are two outside seating areas at the back of the pub. There was a good selection of cask conditioned real ales, and a good choice of cider all the cask ales we sampled were in excellent condition when we called. The service was excellent and the food arrived quickly even though the pub was busy when we called.
