Bought the car from this dealership a month ago

Done a 450mile round trip for my car.

They were constantly in contact pre purchase to get me to buy it, luckily the car and payments worked out OK

On arrival, the car wasnt MOTd, so i had to do it in my own time and bill them.

The car has a few minor issues that i have been trying to get fixed for over a month now, will happily contact you pre purchase but good luck getting a response when youve signed the papers

I have now had to go to head office to get this resolved, so if you are looking for a worry free car and good after sales. Please go elsewhere

I had an absolute nightmare with a vehicle from this company, at first everything ran well, the customer service was great, I purchased a White VW Tiguan r-line from them & I was promised a major service incl, gearbox service from a main dealer, no paperwork could be produced to back this up. I was promised the small dents on the vehicle would be pulled, this wasn’t done. I was promised the water leak in the boot would be fixed (common problem, blocked sunroof drains) this wasn’t done. I drove the car away with a promise of everything being done soon and also due to my old car being px’d and having cancelled insurance etc on the car. My bad for driving away in the vehicle. Little did I know it was going to be the start of the poor customer service. I had drove the car small trips on school runs, seemed perfectly fine, booked a cabin to give the new purchase a good run and then The gearbox FAILED, luckily within 7 days of purchasing, thus ending up with the vehicle being rejected entitling me to a refund. (Just as a note I’d like to mention that Evans Halshaw said there was no problem with the gearbox on its return, despite having breakdown cover come out and specify that the gearbox mechatronics had failed, and that if I attempted to drive home it would continue to fail. So this vehicle may well be up for sale still unrepaired.)
Just before having the car towed back to the dealership 100 miles from home I also noticed the rear end of the car was a completely different colour, it had been crash repaired previously. I’m not sure how I didn’t notice this previously, but once I did it wasn’t easy to miss. My nightmare only began to worsen when it came to the refund, I was consistently lied to in terms of the process, how long things would take, and on completion of the refund, was also given the incorrect amount, which I was also lied to about & took even longer to resolve, it took me threatening legal action via the motor ombudsman to get it sorted, even then it was left till the last of the 7 day warning and a reminder to them to get it resolved. I cannot believe such a big company would not even consider compensating me for the hassle they have caused. The inconvenience they caused by the dragging of feet and lies (which were caught out by chasing the companies they were blaming) the whole process of refunding me was extremely disappointing, the website states that refunds within 14 days of being purchased will be returned within 5 working days, believe me it took a hell of a lot longer! And without me pushing and trying to get things moving I’d hate to know how long it would have actually taken to get a refund. Evans Halshaw put me in an extremely stressful situation that was out of my control, I was without a courtesy car, without my part exchange and without my large deposit. I was stuck with no vehicle, no funds to purchase elsewhere and there was no urgency to resolve this issue that was caused by a bad vehicle sold by this company. They continued to avoid my calls, avoid my emails & I will never consider buying from them again. I warn anyone considering to purchase from them to walk away and use else where. I would hate for anyone to have to deal with the stress I’ve had caused by this company.

Update- 4 hours after speaking to Dan and requesting a call back from Matt I have had to call back and is unavailable. You couldn’t write itšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others after experiencing the worst service of my life at Evans Halshaw.

I was promised repeatedly that my car would be fixed and ready since Tuesday. Every day I was given excuses — missed parts cut-offs, shifting timelines, and empty assurances. I was told I’d be kept updated by the service manager, Matt, who then left work on Friday without informing me of anything, leaving me completely stranded.

Because I wasn’t told the car wouldn’t be ready, I had to cancel important meetings, miss a family trip to Wales, and rely on trains and Ubers just to get around — a huge inconvenience and expense.

To make things even worse, the fault has now come back, meaning after all that waiting, stresso, the issue hasn’t even been fixed.

This experience has been nothing short of disgraceful. If you value your time, money, and sanity — avoid this place.

Staff was great kept me updated, however i had to cancel my order they said they’d process it straight away, however one week on it wasn’t processed i had to call back again to question again about my refund having only just been sent back today. No idea to what took so long to complete a short cancellation as was completed over the phone in a minute or two yet was completely forgot about.

Good service and reasonably priced cars. Staff were very helpful and kept me well informed throughout the buying process. Only downfall was the low offer they gave me to part exchange my previous car but otherwise a great experience.

Faultless customer service right from the initial enquiry. Immediately sent a video across detailing the car as it had just recently arrived. Super friendly in person, was not pressured once during my couple of trips to the dealership. Every question was answered in detail.

Big thanks to James and Adam who ensured the car was in 10/10 condition when I picked it up. Really went above and beyond. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase.
