Every delail of the room and bathroom was clean and set up for our comfort. The large bedroom and windows including the bathroom enabled us to enjoy the views. Dawn was responsive to our emails and very welcoming and helpful during our stay.

It is close to the train station and bus, so for some this will be 5* location. For us, just a bit far from where we wanted to be (hence the slight drop on stars - but note my previous comment on location

Parking is limited and tight. On the street outside, with quite steep steps to carry bags up. Parking at the rear is accessible through a narrow tunnel. Not for the nervous driver, but myself and a friend got a BMW 5 series and an Audi Q4 etron through and parked - neither small cars

Very nice 2 nights stay, will be checking on availability next time we are in Windermere

Beautiful old house in a silent and very cozy location.

Location: Close to the train and bus station. And the best restaurants in this area.

Staff: is very friendly and helpful.

Rooms: are big and lovely. Bright and shiny. Clean and tidy.

My daughter and I travelled from Canada to the UK for a month-long tour in June 2022. During our time in the Lake District, we stayed at Ashleigh House for two nights. At the time of booking, I had advised Dawn, the proprietor, that our train would get us into Windermere a few hours earlier than normal check-in time, and she was kind enough to arrange for our room to be ready as soon as we arrived. The first thing we noticed was how spotlessly clean the bedroom and ensuite bathroom were. We appreciated little touches like the complimentary tea and coffee provided in the room. We slept really well on the very comfortable beds. The cooked breakfast was generously sized and delicious. The property’s location was perfect for us – just a couple of minutes’ walk from all the shops and restaurants in the centre of Windermere. We will absolutely stay at Ashleigh House again whenever we have the chance to return to the Lake District.

We stayed here last month as a little getaway. It was absolutely fantastic, great breakfast, cosy room with a gorgeous view and a brilliant location in the heart of Windermere. Bowness was a lovely walk away. Dawn was a great host and offered lots of advice of things to do in the area. We will definitely be back hopefully very soon. Thank you again if it making us feel so welcome.

Good location. Access to the property is up some steep steps, and we stayed in room 5 at the top of quite a few more steps (2nd floor). Good exercise! It was a large, clean room with a very spacious shower room, and lovely views out the back. The shower was an electric shower, the water pressure was a little weak, but that may be typical of the area. The cubicle was a standard size, perfectly acceptable, but considering the size of the room, a missed opportunity for a larger one, we thought. Two of the sockets would not allow for a plug to be fully inserted; they stuck out enough for someone to touch a terminal when trying to pull it back out. We parked at the back of the property which is a tight squeeze as some have mentioned, just glad we had a small car (and I wasn't driving!) We didn't stop for breakfast.

The hotel is a warm and welcoming place. The room was very clean and simply yet tastefully decorated (it has had a refresh since some of the pics above were taken.) Fantastic breakfast and very helpful owner. Would recommend!

Our hostess was a lovely, welcoming lady who greeted us warmly and provided a very comfy room in a charming old house in a great location. Very much recommend a stay here.
