Visited on a hen weekend & we honestly had an amazing time. From start to finish the hotel was perfect. The staff were 10/10 super accommodating. The food was so good. Because we were a large group we were given a private dining area which was great! Everything was reasonably priced. The spa was amazing too. Honestly everything was spot on. My sister & myself had a lovely view from our twin room too. Honestly would recommend this hotel. The car park is literally a 2 minute walk from the front door! Plus it’s a great location to walk around Windermere.

What a fantastic weekend and stay at The Old England, we have all thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. We cannot thank the staff enough for the wonderful hospitality, great service and friendly attitudes, the team honestly cannot do enough for guests and always with a big smile. Everyone commented on how well looked after we have been and personally it’s been one of the most enjoyable hotel stays I have had. Rooms were spacious, clean, and the view was perfect. All food and drink was lovely quality, servers ensured we were attended to constantly. | |The spa and pool area was fantastic and everyone’s treatments got amazing feedback. | |I want to personally thank you Fiona for the help and support throughout planning. No request was too much trouble and you are so responsive, it’s been a pleasure to organise. | |I know we were a bit of a loud group at times (I’m sorry if we caused any disturbances!) but the relaxed and positive staff attitudes made us feel welcome despite this and and having the private dining area out of the way was just perfect for us being a bigger group. | |My Fiance and I will be coming back to stay together for the same package as it’s such good value for money. We stayed at The Old MacDonald Hotel from the 2nd to the 3rd of May, as a little pre-baby getaway, and it was everything we hoped for and more! My partner had booked this as a short baby moon before our little one arrives, and while I was a little sceptical at first due to some recent negative reviews, I can honestly say we couldn’t have been more impressed.||First off, the location is absolutely unbeatable – 10/10! Right in the heart of things, with easy access to all the sights and shops. Yes, the car park is £25 per night, which some might find steep, but considering the prime location and the peace of mind that comes with having a secure space to park, we felt it was completely worth it.||The food was fantastic – we had a lovely meal in the restaurant and couldn’t fault a thing. What really stood out to us, though, was the charm of the hotel. Some people have said it's "run down," but we honestly disagree. The old-style décor is full of character and truly highlights the beauty of a historic hotel. It feels genuine, and you can tell a lot of care has gone into maintaining its unique charm.||What really made our stay special, though, was the service. From the moment we stepped through the door, the staff were exceptional. Emily from the restaurant, in particular, was outstanding. She made our dining experience so much more enjoyable, and you can tell she’s a real asset to the team.||The cherry on top was the gorgeous weather, which made our stay even more perfect.||Thank you, Old MacDonald Hotel, for a lovely and memorable stay – we’ll definitely be back once our little one is here!

I had my hen do in Windermere and picked the Old England hotel as compared to others it seemed to have everything! Amazing lake side views, spa, fine dining, perfect location, gorgeous cocktails & the best value for money. ||I have to say , it did not disappoint. In fact I had the best hen do EVER. From our spectacular lakeside view & large comfortable rooms, to the private dining room with sublime food, cocktails to die for, sensational spa treatments and a stunning afternoon tea all around the most friendly and welcoming staff, it really was perfect. ||Thank you so much for everything. I would highly recommend and will 100% be visiting again in the future.

After reading the reviews, I was regretting my decision of booking this hotel. However I'm glad to say that my opinion quickly changed upon arrival. From the start the traditional hotel lived up to its name offering a gorgeous old style interiors. The staff were attentive and our room (super dulex with lake view) was spot on. Offering a gorgeous view the room facilities included hairdryer toietries, robes and tea and coffee supplies. The bed was comfy and we had two great nights sleep. ||The drinks were a little on the expensive side, but it is a hotel in Bowness so we had expected this. Our package included an evening meal , which was 3 courses and all were superb. Service was sometimes slow, but it was busy and it wasn't minded, after all we were on holiday and happy to just relax and enjoy the view||Spa facilities included sauna, steam room, ice cave and pool. Happy to report that we didnt find it busy at all, and you can easily work out which times are quieter

I visit this hotel with my 3 sisters, 2 nieces, and friends.
The location great. I'm a disabled driver and was able to park on the front of the hotel.
The rooms lovely and the beds so comfortable, I had the best 2 nights sleep in ages.
Evening meal was delicious, just a few mix ups but with a pity of 10 of us, couldn't complain.
Had 2 spa treatments which I really enjoyed, and the pool was lovely too.
The view from my window looked out across the lake.
Really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend.

Horrible experience
The worst hotel we stayed in in a long time. 1. The parking is 25 per night - rip off. 2. They don't respond to messages. 3.The breakfast was sad and the service was slow. We had to wait 10 minutes to be sat down despite many empty tables (if you have mobility issues or are heavily pregnant, it's frustrating). 4. Food was unimpressive especially if you have dietry requirements. Our vegan breakfast was anemic and they didn't have dairy free butter/margarine. The waiters didn't bother cleaning the empty plates, so we had to pile them up. 5. The rooms were unbearably hot. 6. Bed and pillows were really uncomfortable. 7. If your room faces the street, be prepared for drunk people shouting and fighting underneath your window (we would have paid more had we known). 8. Bathrooms are really dated. 9. The water mixer wasn't working properly so we had cold and hot water coming out of the shower simultaneously. It's not a 4 star hotel. It's zero stars really. We wouldn't recommend and would never come back

Booked for the afternoon spa day for my partner and I. The spa treatment was excellent and the service incredible. Every single staff member was attentive and very polite. However, for the price of the day the facilities were minimal and it felt as if the price was too high for what was offered. The afternoon tea wasn’t the best, the sandwiches tasteless and one was very soggy. The scones however were very nice. Very good place to go for a massage but wouldn’t recommend paying for the ‘spa’ access or the afternoon tea.
