We were on our way further up the lakes and decided to stop off at JB as it was on our way. It was cash only as the internet was down, as we didn’t have a few hundred pounds cash we decided to leave it until we got home and order online. These things happen.
We decided to call in again a few days later.. tried on some clothes and went to the till with our haul of items. The lady serving just said “ there’s no internet so you’ll have to either wait or call back” I appreciate she was frustrated but we felt it very rude and unhelpful so decided to leave our items. I get that the internet going down causes problems but this was two days later and a few people putting their items back means a loss of sales. They obviously don’t need the sales if this is the way they treat customers. In future we’ll order online.

Always love to buy Joe Browns online to Australia. I had the opportunity to visit the Lake District and called into the store there. I was impressed with the exemplary level of service. A benchmark that is rarely reached nowadays. Congratulations to the Joe Brown’s team for selecting such quality staff.

I have always bought Joe Browns online and was thrilled to come across a JB shop when visiting Windermere. The staff are really helpful and the manager could tell me what size jeans would fit me best, just by looking at me. A great shop with wonderful staff. If you find yourself in Windermere- don’t pass it by.

Called in today, beautiful brightly coloured selection of clothing for all occasions. Ended up purchasing a tee shirt (haha) for now. Lovely friendly staff with a well laid out clean spacious store,room to manoeuvre about. Will definitely revisit.

A great store with a lot of their range cleverly arranged around the store and with a really helpful and friendly team. Nothing was too much trouble, from advice to even steaming my suit jacket before I took it home. Well worth a visit.

Visited the Bowness-on-Windermere branch today and the service from Linda was outstanding. Made myself, my husband and dog feel like VIPS. So much so we bought more than planned. Also I have to say the joules display was fantastic. Everything was easy to see. We will be visiting on our next break to Windermere! Thank you

So to end our lovely holiday in the Lakes we decided to pop down to the shops and do some last minute shopping before we began our journey home.

carried with us was my back pack with personal belongings in, money and food for the journey home. When we entered the Edge of the World store in Bowness on Windermere with our 2 year old daughter and 2 dogs, we heard the shop alarm go off for reasons we were un aware of. To which a store assistant approached us and was very abrupt in saying "You have set the alarm off" I was very confused as I had no idea why we would set the alarms off and said that we have never been in this store before. I felt very uncomfortable as she stood there staring at us. I felt like we were being judged.

Then as if this awkward situation could not get any worse she then asked me if we could leave our back pack down stairs!!! (Whilst we browsed upstairs) as she explained there had been a recent abundance of thefts recently. Obviously this made us feel like she was accusing us which was completely out of order.

As we had nothing to hide we asked her to look in our bag several times to which she declined, but insisted we left the back pack by the counter. My backpack with my own belongings in!!!
We did so and had a browse upstairs where I felt this shop assistant looking at us constantly and felt like we were being watched and totally not trusted.

We made our purchase and left the shop feeling angry and in disbelief of how we had just been treated. We are a family with 2 pets on our holidays. We both work full time and earn our own money which we put into a holiday so we could spend a week away with our daughter. At NO POINT should be have had to feel discrimiated against and judged by anyone in this store. Being made out to feel like criminals when we have rightly paid our way for everything we have got. No one should be subjected to this judgemental and rude attitude.

We visit the Lakes regularly and we will never every step foot in this store or spend money here again. I looked on my receipt.. this lady's name was Alison. I hope she is happy with how she made us feel today!! absolutely appalling and totally uncalled for!
