I have not visited the actual pottery but a temporary exhibition gallery that the artisans organise in late Autumn/ early Winter every year in Winchcombe. The exhibition, and I am sure the actual pottery too, is worth visiting. The craftsmanship is awesome, and the staff is so nice and knowledgeable…a real treat if you’re visiting the Cotswolds.

To visit is to step back in time and connect with a powerful yet rare craft.
The workshop is fully functional and based on the site of a still fully functioning 18th Century pottery.
Access to the shop is up some steep stone stairs on the first floor of the pottery.
Wares are still fired in the circ. 1794 "Bottle Kiln", which is visible from the road.
The pottery was run by the Finch family up until 2016 and still has regular visiting potters and craftspeople staying there from across the globe.

If you are in the Cotswolds, then its worth a visit to Winchcombe Pottery. They have a lovely selection of "Hagrid" style crockery set out neatly over two rooms. Also a good seconds shelf if you want to pick up a bargain. The rest of the property is pretty rural and I feel a bit of a missed opportunity to showcase the 300 year old furnace.

Absolutely lovely Trip to Wynchcombe Pottery. Spent the day with our family friends whom happen to be the same family whom started the pottery shop. Been in the family for centuries!!

Back after six years of using a couple of their mugs and goblets. Added some bowls, a candle holder and a beer mug. Excellent pottery each piece very individual but not so they don't look a set. Extremely friendly staff. Bloody awful parking.

I rang the pottery this morning to purchase 4 books relating to Winchcombe pottery and the potters who worked there.
I spoke with Catherine who has worked as a potter there for 8 years. Winchcombe pottery has such a history and after buying the books I spoke with Catherine, nothing was too much trouble for her even discussing the books and explaining the relevance. I then asked about some pottery I had recently acquired which I thought was from Winchcombe - she suggested speaking with Matt Grimmitt.
At her suggestion I sent Matt an e mail with photographs of the pots.
Within 1 hour Matt took time out of his day and responded with a frightening amount of detailed information about my pots. I understand that Matt’s family have been involved with the pottery in the distant past which probably explains why he is so interested and knowledgeable about the history of the pottery.
His knowledge was amazing BUT the fact he took time to respond in such a manner speaks volumes about the character of the man.
I will certainly go out of my way to visit in the future.

Like this pottery! Popped in as staying nearby and ended up buying several items, including a lovely mug and a wine goblet. Prices about normal for handmade items. An array of different things to choose from in a few different styles. Would definitely recommend a visit here. Parking is a bit restricted in the yard, and the shop is up some steep steps in a great old barn with low beams. Otherwise really good.
