This course is beautiful with great history. Nathan, the pro was so kind, even after running late because our rental car broke down. We didn’t specify that we needed rental clubs in the booking and he still ran to the basement and put some together while his other 2 sets were booked out already. I couldn’t recommend this beautiful course more. It’s unique features as an Alister McKenzie course brings holes that crossover like a plane runway. You can play the original amen corner. This is a must play at a great price!

The best golf course in the area, and one of the best in Yorkshire. A beautiful hidden gem, with a great variety of holes, and true greens. Perfect for golfers of all abilities and ages.

I have just had my mums funeral celebration at Shipley Golf Club. I could not have chosen a better place. Massive thankyou to Alice who was so supportive every step of the way. Food beautiful and all staff on the day lovely. Thank you so much

Had my wedding here earlier this year - I wouldn't even give it 1 star but that's the lowest possible rating! There were several issues on the day which I will list below:

They promised a master of ceremonies - this never happened so there were no announcements during the ceremony, the wedding breakfast, cutting of the cake or first dance - this meant none of the guests had a clue what was going on all day.

The music during the ceremony was too quiet. You couldn't hear it when the bride was walking down the isle, the music during the signing of the register, and the walking out music. This was hugely disappointing.

We told the venue that the bride had a big dress so would need a wide isle - the isle was small and that resulted in decorations being knocked over during the walks down the isle. We also provided room decorations which were not used so were a waste of time, money and effort.

We also had money behind the bar which was not all used up and there being about £150 left. During the days after the wedding we were REFUSED a refund for this.

None of the staff were helpful when it came to distributing the cake, so none of the guests actually got a slice which is awful.

Members of the golf club were eating the nibbles we had provided before the ceremony as well which is totally unacceptable.

The Golf clubs solicitors got in touch and threatened us with court if we left a review - but we feel we have no choice as this is NOT a venue in which you should consider having your special day, as ours was ruined.

Nice settings & surroundings. Lovely course that's not too hard but not too easy and makes for a steady round that every golfer can enjoy. Bar is on par with most courses, cost me £12.50 for 3 pints which like I say is onmpar withnother courses. Greens well maintained as is the course as a whole. For the money it was well worth it.

It’s all about the course and Shipley is a cracker. Interesting, fun, challenging, fair and in places very attractive, the 7th being very special. If it were my home course I’d be very happy indeed. Just a few niggles ( personal to me perhaps) which are.
1. The 8th is just too hard for “average” golfers, not fun.
2. The greens were woolly & slow but true and fair.
3. A few of the T’s had tree branches protruding too far making it almost impossible for a draw.

Always a treat to play a McKenzie, Shipley no exception, highly recommend.
