We had been a couple times before when we visit on holiday, but unfortunately, every visit has been worse and this latest visit will be our last.
Tables were sticky, floor is also sticky, they ran out of menus even when there were only 4 other people in the resteraunt area (who after 10 minutes wisely decided to go elsewhere for food), half the menu was off even though it was about an hour after opening and the food was average at best...If you can't even fry an egg properly without cremating the bottom, then you really have no business being in a kitchen!

Over ran a job in Watchet and my client booked me in to this place last minute for 1 night. Would highly recommend staff very helpful and eager to help. Pub very nice serving fantastic food. Don't normally drink but had a refreshing pint at the bar whilst room was being prepared. Very surprised at room as not in pub but outside which has individual chalet bungalows name after stones /granite which had a lovely comfortable double bed very spacious room and ensuites bathroom. Room was very nice and comfortable and nice and warm and slept like a log. I would highly recommend this place and hopefully next time can stay longer

We had a table for 3 booked for 12.45pm on Mother's Day. The barmaid welcomed us, showed us to our table and served us drinks. However, despite asking twice how much longer we would wait for our food, it wasn't served until 2pm! The plate of food was large however, it was swimming in watery gravy, the roast potatoes were burnt, the broccoli and carrots were undercooked, too hard even for al dente! The cauliflower cheese was served cold, the mashed swede was watery and had no flavour, the red cabbage was steeped in vinegar it made it inedible and the Yorkshire pudding was soggy. We all left most of our meals and left before desserts. The barmaid could see our plates, and did apologise both for the poor service and food. She deducted our drinks from the bill and a small percentage off our main courses. I had hoped to treat my elderly parents to a great local meal out, but it's safe to say we will not ever go for food there again!

Tonight I went for a meal with my family for my birthday. Usually and in the past have had excellent meals. Today was a horrible experience. We ordered and waited 15 mins only for the waitress to say one thing wasn't available. After 35 mins they came and said the had no Salmon, which two of us had ordered. We waited an hour and twenty five minutes for our meals which were not up to there normal standard. Dogs should not be in professional kitchens either. I have nothing against dogs I am a dog owner myself. Other people were being served the wrong meals and the entire atmosphere in the restaurant was not a pleasant experience

The food was really good unfortunately the experience was let down by service. We sat in the restaurant and we could hear everything going on in the kitchen, not normally a problem but in this instance the waiting staff were being told to go and take orders, we'd been waiting 15 minutes in an empty pub! Then to add insult to injury we could hear a male belching loudly from the kitchen. This put us off the food that was delivered.... in short we have been here before and came back because we had a good meal, whether or not new staff or just a one off we would need to seriously consider if we return. Sorry as a big fan of supporting local pubs & businesses it goes against the grain but these days money is too hard earned not to say something!

Apparently the food is popular but not a great stop-off if you are an ale-drinker. Two ales on pump, both pretty mediocre.

Visited just before 2.30pm on Sunday, and they managed to fit us in before service stopped for Sunday lunch.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Had the spiced butternut squash soup and brie wedges to start, followed by two beef roasts. Portion sizes were generous and the food was good quality and tasty.

The pub is quite traditional inside, with a large fireplace and dog friendly. Would visit again if in the area.
