Excellent. Really nice premises and good happy vibe. They got us a table at short notice as a walk in.
Create your own meal with combo of fish, batter, or pie, potato, side and sauce.
Good service and very reasonable prices at £100 for 4 including drinks. Definitely recommend, but would book in advance.

Fish&Chips Restaurant

Looks like a fish& chips specialist therefore entered this restaurant.

The menu was standard. Choose a main, a side, a potato side and gravy. With samphire option. Most of the restaurants do not have samphire available.

I thought the fish pie tastes better than other places. It's not watery at the bottom of the pie dish.

What a surprise that the fish & chips was not as good as the Ivy Cambridge Brasserie, the restaurant that is located at the Trinity Street.

I guess it's a different price level is why. The fish & chips in the Ivy is more expensive.

But still, the fish & chips in the Architect was good in terms of its price. Also, you can choose flavour of the batter, but not the Ivy.

The environment was clean, quiet and tidy. The toilet was clean.

Service was good.

Would recommend the samphire side.

Delicious food, nice selection of beer, fantastic service. We tried the beef and ale, and the chicken and leak pies as well as the vegan fish and chips. All dishes were great and so was the sticky toffee pudding.

Fantastic family lunch here sat outside in the sun. There are many (any?) places where you can choose from 3 batters that your fish or halloumi are cooked in. Interesting salads, chips made of actual potatoes & really good pies too. We’ll definitely be returning.

Takes the crown as the King of Cambridge pies.
As a member of the Piemen of Alnwick, which has been travelling the land tasting pies for 413 years, I was very impressed by the crust, meat, filling, onion gravy and overall presentation.
The minted peas and buttery mash were top quality.
A tasty morsel.
Good service and fair price.

The service was incredibly slow, which left us waiting far longer than we expected. When the food finally arrived, it was just okay—nothing particularly impressive or memorable. It wasn’t terrible, but it certainly didn’t stand out compared to other places we’ve been. Given the combination of slow service and average food, I don’t think we’ll be coming back. There are plenty of other restaurants where you can get better quality and a more enjoyable dining experience for the same price. This one just didn’t hit the mark for us.

The vibe was good and the live music was banging but there were a few disappointments.

We booked a table for three but they only gave us a two person table with an extra chair which was a but of a squeeze but it was fine.

I ordered the chicken pie with onion gravy and chips. The chicken and asparagus pie was very dry but tasted okay. The onion gravy was more onion than gravy which was disappointing. I was hoping for a gravy I could pour over the pie. The chips weren’t the best, more like poor potato wedges.

I had a nice time but I wouldn’t advise is you’re after a high quality meal.

I've been eating here 3 times and it's one of Cambridge true hidden gems. Good food, buzzing atmosphere and good service too. Food served in 15-20 mins. First time I had pie (creamy fish pie) today and it was so good. The beer batter fish tasted good too. A car park is available right across the street.
