Lovely little cafe with very friendly bubbly staff.

The hot chocolate was one of the nicest I've had in a long time; rich, thick and creamy without being too sweet.

I really enjoyed the lemon meringue pie too although I would have preferred a little less meringue and a little more filling. Tangy and sweet though and a really decent portion size.

£6 for a cake and hot drinks is an absolute bargain.

There's a previous reviewer who complained about hygiene but I saw nothing that would cause concern at all, in fact I noticed the lady behind the counter wearing gloves and using tongs to serve cakes. I also saw them cleaning the cake fridge thoroughly at the end of the day.

I'll be back for more cake soon!

I ordered through just eat, I got the avocado breakfast toast and American fruit pancakes which came to £23.21 including 10p for a paper bag and £2.30 service charge.
Expensive, but the food is high quality, the avocado toast comes with an egg sausage, bacon and halloumi sourdough was fresh with a beautiful rich buttery flavour. I have not had the pancakes yet but they looked very nice as well, with berries, maply syrup and fresh cream.

It's moved over the road from where it used to be on silver St so no more stairs as all on ground floor. More choice on menu aunt had a very nice fish and chips . We stuck to toastie and sarnie and they were substantial with coleslaw and salad. Friendly staff. Toilet at back - no stairs

Arrived on a Saturday at 1300 so a very busy time, the staff got us a table quickly and took our orders promptly and were very professional and polite, they also checked on allergies which often gets missed.

We ordered our food and even though it was busy it seemed to be cooked fresh and arrived in about 10 minutes, which shows that their system from order, to kitchen to waiting staff is very smooth and well drilled.

The food portions were generous and tasted great and the cost was very competitive for the type of establishment and its location in the centre of Durham a stones throw from the town hall and Riverside Bridge.

Iced latte, cappuccino, eggs florentine, avocado and goats cheese on sourdough and a dessert each (lemon tart and lemon meringue - not pictured) came to £35.

I will come again when in Durham.

Wonderful meal here yesterday. Delicious Leek and potato soup, well stuffed sandwiches, we had Tuna and cucumber, and smoked salmon and cream cheese, and then HUGE cakes, I had Berry cheesecake, and hubby Coffee and walnut. All washed down with several cups of tea!
Staff were really nice and helpful, and although busy, such a relaxed atmosphere.
We don't get to Durham often, but make a point of visiting this excellent tea room!

The interior design of the new Treats cafe is lovely - both pretty and very clean. The food was satisfactory, unfortunately the gluten free bread served is the cheap, sweet bread, so I didn’t particularly like the toastie. That being said, the filling and side salad was good, and my only complaint was the gluten free bread (it’d be nice if they could get a different one). The staff were so wonderful and very friendly! They were excellent at answering questions - very patient and approachable.
