I live around the corner from this place and in theory it is a great local resource. I popped in to buy some weedkiller recently. At £17 I thought it a bit pricey and it prompted me to look online. The same Roundup product was £5.99 on Amazon or £9 on the High Street at Robert Dyas. I would always rather support local independent businesses but I feel that these guys are exploiting the people of Winchester.

I bought an egg poacher today at a cost of £12.50. My daughter bought the same one on Amazon for £ 7.99. A big difference. Like to support stores rather than go on line but I will look on line first

Couldn't find a 2.5AL 250V glass fuse anywhere on a Saturday morning. Someone suggested D&G. I gave them a call and sure enough they had exactly the right one! When I walked in, the fuses were packaged and ready for me to pay and take away. No hassle and staff very cheerful on the phone and in the shop. My gates are back up and working which is a huge relief.

They’re open until 4pm Mon to Sat and my goodness is it a relief to find them open. Had to pop in for a 13A fuse and as ever, they had exactly what I needed, friendly staff, advice and all the support you want from a local business.
If I need hardware, D&G is my first call.

Ask the staff if you're not sure what you need - they really know their stuff. They can give advice on DIY, pick out the right lightbulb in an instant (they have a huge variety), and once did an excellent job fixing a vintage lamp for me.

Staff are helpful but product pricing is very expensive. The item I wanted was around £26. Exactly the same item available from The Range for around £10, the manufacturer for around £13 and Amazon for around £15. If it isn't urgent, shop around!
