This is a lovely place. We had lunch at the Willow Tree Tea room. It was so packed, we had to share a table, and there were people willing to wait for a free table.

I had the ham and tomato quiche and chips which was tasty and filling.

The staff were friendly.

The toilets are in the next building, and are clean and tidy.

I would recommend this place.

Mercia Marina is a place of beauty, nature and tranquility. I first visited here with my daughter in 2020 when she was looking to purchase her first live aboard narrowboat. I was concerned about her living alone in a boat and an unfamiliar environment, I needn’t of worried, the wonderful community and staff of Mercia took her in and showed her the ropes - literally! She has never looked back and has flourished there, so much so that I too sold up, purchased a boat and now live on the water too ☺️ now living our best lives!

Although only living 7 minutes away for the last 14 years, I had not realised this place existed as I had assumed I was at it when visiting the pub and canal by the road bridge at Willington.

Now I have found it I was really impressed at the development which is still undergoing improvement.

It was the recent food event that popped up in a 'what's on' search on Google that finally caused a Google Maps navigation to the venue. We shall now be visitors on a fairly frequent basis.

Great cafe for breakfast or lunch.
Lovely surroundings and interesting range of shops. The boardwalk has changed to a tapas bar, so none of our favourites are on the menu now, which is a shame. It's also closed downstairs for reno work. If you want to go for a ride along the canal, there's a tourist boat which has regular tours.

Great place to stay, we have now stayed 4 times in the lodges, very peaceful and quiet. You have everything you need on site but a short walk down the road and you have other eateries and access to the train to travel further if you want, nice walks up and down canal, day trips on the marina boat available. Quite a lot of money spent on marina and you have some nice shops and restaurants to visit.

2024 update, we have now booked into the new lodges, Heather Lodge is fantastic. The whole place has expanded since last time we were here, lots more to see and a variety of ships and restaurants to try out. Love coming here.
