"Perfect 🤩 can't ask for more. We had booked the superior room but then decided to bring the dog along. The Rodney accommodated perfectly with a different room with a dogs bed & bowl & a little welcome sign. The room was a lovely size, very comfortable & well equipped. The addition on a nice DAB radio was a lovely touch. Location in the heart of Horncastle is great with lots of parking to the rear of the hotel. The restaurant & bar is a lovely welcoming space & all staff members were very friendly, welcoming & helpful. Will definitely be back. Thank you."

This is the third hotel we have stayed in with this chain and sadly it was a bit of a mixed bag. While the room rate for two nights was good value, there is a level of cleanliness and maintenance you expect no matter the price. There were marks on some of the bed linen, the toilet wasn't clean, there was dust on some of the surfaces, the WiFi kept cutting out and the window frames were full of damp. On the plus side, Jenny on reception was lovely, the meal in the restaurant was good value and tasty and the room was large, quiet, with plenty of refreshments and biscuits.

On a nostalgic return to my birthplace and booked an overnight stay here. This hotel is superb value for money. Lovely meal at night on a dog friendly table. Fantastic room and probably one of the best breakfasts I have had in a very long time. The service from every member of staff has been exemplary and friendly. Would highly recommend anybody staying here.

Very pleasant 1 night stay, nice well appointed room , spotlessly clean. Tasty full English breakfast with large selection of options.Friendly and excellent helpful service by all staff we met particularly at breakfast and reception. Excellent parking facilities and location ideal for visiting antique shops in town by foot.

ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL experience during our Christmas family get together. There was no one there to welcome the 6 of us and after looking for 10 minutes for a member of staff, we were told immediately that the chef wasn't prepared to do us any food as the restaurant was too busy. There was a couple of people in the restaurant and a couple of people having a coffee in the bar, god help them if they were ever full of customers.
We had to go through to the restaurant to order drinks as the staff, who were uninterested, impolite and unhelpful, couldn't be bothered to serve us from the bar.
We said we were having our Christmas party so were told we could have a toasted teacake or a scone and after some begging we were told we could have a bowl of chips. After receiving the smallest bowls of chips and a rock hard teacake, (that my mother in law couldn't cut or eat), my husband dared to order a scone and was told in no uncertain terms that this would be the last food we could order as they were too busy.
The restaurant still wasn't half full at this time but we suspect the reason was that they were under staffed, at Christmas, on a lunchtime!
We then noticed the party of 4 that had arrived after us, receiving their lunch from the menu, so we asked the waitress why they were able to order food when we were flatly refused, she said she knew we were going to ask that and the excuse was mismanagement. Apparently, a manager had arrived and allowed them to have food at lunchtime!!
We had finally had enough of feeling like we were an inconvenience, being treated like second class citizens and as we were leaving, hungry, annoyed and £100 lighter, I had a word with the manageress, who made ridiculous excuses and then offered us 6 desserts.....a main course would have been more appropriate 2 hours before, at lunchtime, like a normal pub/restaurant. Needless to say, I refused the desserts, we'd had more than enough of the lack of basic service, food and courtesy.
I contacted the Admiral Rodney by email, explaining how terrible our visit had been, which unfortunately fell on deaf ears, with more ridiculous excuses and none of my questions answers. I then requested the owners contact details to let them know how poorly their establishment is being run, which was unfortunately ignored too.
I then had to contact the half wit head of guest experience who's response was no better so I have no choice than to alert future customers and the owners through social media.
HOSPITALITY FROM THE HEART IT IS NOT!!!

This was our second family Christmas at The Admiral Rodney and it was just as special as the last. The hotel was just as we remembered, tastefully decorated for the festivities. The rooms a decent size with good amenities and options that meant we had rooms suitable for my elderly grandparents and for my aunt and uncle who have a dog. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Perhaps at times, we noticed on Boxing Day at breakfast for instance, a little short staffed - but that didn’t affect the standard of service, only waiting times were affected (nothing extreme however)

The Christmas Day lunch was delicious. Generous portions too. Crackers on the table. Really memorable moment.

We only had one minor disappointment. Mostly this is because we were very well fed earlier in the day however we did feel that the Xmas day evening buffet could’ve offered more options. I’d forgotten that mince pies were offered on Xmas eve with coffee. We’d missed those and felt that it would’ve been nice to of had those amongst the dessert options on the buffet as there were none left. Also we would’ve liked to of seen some sliced meat, chutney to accompany the cheeses - even something like a tuna/sweetcorn bowl which I think would work well as we had pasta and rolls already. As it was there were slices of haslet, sausage rolls and pork pie - nice although all pork and processed. We also only had a rocket salad - would’ve liked to have seen some cherry tomatoes, sliced onion and carrots for instance. Maybe it could be considered for future Christmas’ that a few more options be made available to make the spread more interesting.

Overall though. Thank you to all the staff. We really enjoyed ourselves.

To be completely honest we were a little disappointed, the room was cold, and had black mould all around the inside of the window, and the heating was broken it had clearly had not be wiped or cleaned for a long time, the restaurant seems to have a two tier seating and service system..! Where certain guests were sat on hard chairs and tables in the restaurant close to the bar entrance were there were two dogs constantly barking everytime the collection for food bell went off, while elderly guests were sat in the more comfortable chairs which seem a certain discrimination towards some guests, are table was neglected throughout serive with priority given ro certain tables, we were left with the same glasses and plates on our table the majority of the time we were in the restaurant without them being cleared, the only positive side was the food it was really nice and hot, the restaurant clearly needs an overhaul and proper supervision as there were 3 bar staff/servers with only one girl doing the majority of the work.. ! Probably wouldn't vist or stay again due to the two tier system thay have with guests

Booked a 1 night stay as a surprise anniversary gift to the wife. The hotel has a car park to the rear and is easy to find. The room was spacious and nicely decorated with a large bath. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I organised a flower delivery for the day before and organised for housekeeping to place in our room for our arrival. On checking in Catherine mentioned that the flowers delivered were not very good quality, I had given them the authority to open them before my arrival, and would like me to see them before they unpacked them and placed them in the room. This, I feel, is exceptional service and extend my thanks to her and the team.
We ate in the restaurant and found the food hot and delicious, if not served a little unusual. Hanging Kebab...it is what it says. Prices were good, as was the service (and the martini)
Breakfast was varied and again came to the table pipping hot.
Would we visit/stay again... most definitely and will be suggesting the restaurant to family who will be in the area next week.
Thank you to the team once again, and keep doing what you're doing
