A company of bandits and thieves it seems. We agreed to go onto the Kelkoo comparison site for a month to try it out. We agreed a capped spend of £500 as this was the minimum they would agree to for a "managed" account. After a week we realised we were getting a lot of enquiries about out of stock items and that these leads were coming from Kelkoo sites. Kelkoo assured us we wouldn't be charged for these clicks and that they would make a change on their side. We asked at the time for a list of clicks and got a response of "Yes it's been forwarded on to the correct team and we'll revert"...(We obviously heard nothing)
After a month we receive a bill for £500 and we email to ask that our account is suspended whilst we review the activity. Obviously they ignore our email and leave us listed until we email again, copy in the CEO of Kelkoo and then finally we start getting responses to emails. After weeks of asking we finally get the list of clicks and guess what? We looked through 210 clicks from one particular day and found 78 on out of stock products. We spend £500+VAT and Google Analytics says we generated £600 of sales. But here's the rub; looking through the data, there are 31 clicks from a single IP address! And in fact, there are more than 20 instances of more than 5 clicks from a single IP address - often within a minute of one another. Maybe some people are browsing which is fine, but in other cases people are clicking on a single product over and over again, every thirty seconds, and Kelkoo considers these clicks to count as separate "leads"....all chargeable.
And when we point all this out to them, the email response from our "account manager" includes this line: "As it stands I will not rule entirely rule out a marginal act of goodwill. But not on something where responsibility lies with yourself."...what does this even mean?
If I were you; I'd avoid this comparison site like the plague. There are many others out there, and our business works with a huge number. We have never seen anything like this and will never touch these guys with a barge pole.
