Cheshire Mews - Hope Valley

Had a one night last minute stay at Cheshire Mews. Have been going to Castleton for years and have never noticed it as it tucked away but is a little gem.

The rooms are a decent size and on the expensive side but you get what you pay for. The rooms are very modern and can see that money has been spent on them. The views are great and on site parking is a plus. Check in is contactless and simple and the owner does a great job of making sure you have all the info you need.

The big selling point is clearly the location and this is perfect, you wont find better in Castleton. We chose this specifically for the fact they are self contained rather than being in a hotel setting as we prefer this but some woud prefer the B&B setting.

The only slight negative for us was the 10AM checkout. Later checkout wasn't available due to an early check in being booked. Had this not been the case, would have been a perfect stay and we will definitely be staying again.

The location of the property is ideal for walkers or people that just love Castleton like myself and my wife but the rooms could be a lot better.

The views out of the rear of the property are fantastic but the rooms were lacking that final touch of finesse that would make them beautiful, cosy and homely.

The bathroom was really nice and finished to a high specification but in the room itself the walls were marked in several places and poorly repaired where it looked like the bed had been in a different place and the repairs are from where the headboard had been fixed to the wall.

There is a small fridge in the corner of the room which froze everything we put in it no matter how low the setting was on including our milk which was in the door section, there’s an oversized tray on top of the fridge with the kettle and drinks sachet on it, surely when these rooms were decorated and furnished it would have made more sense to attach a small piece of worktop to the wall above the fridge to put the kettle etc on and it wouldn’t look as unsightly and unfinished.

The heating thermostat was in a locked position which allowed you to change the temperature to a desired level then after so long it would automatically drop to a low temperature which myself and my wife felt cold as we spent a lot of time in the room.

The pillows on the bed were genuinely like sand bags, we were so glad we took our own pillows as we wouldn’t have been able to get 1 nights comfortable sleep let alone 2.

Overall we enjoyed our weekend stay in Castleton at Cheshire Mews apartments but if I owned properties in such a fantastic location with the views they have I’d make sure the rooms were finished to high specification throughout, that they were kept in excellent condition and any repairs that were carried out in the property they were done properly and not unsightly.

Superb location with private parking. Less than a minute walk to pubs, cafes, shops but set back off the main road so no issues with traffic noise. We stayed in the Mam Tor room which was well stocked with tea and coffee. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner provided in the very modern bathroom .very comfortable large bed, fridge provided as well as a smart tv. 10/10.

Very (too) spacious. Newly renovated. Modern, simple yet convenient design. Nice view. Hot water works almost instantly. Nice but deceiving mirror that makes you look skinner. Soft and comfortable bed and pillows. Self check-in/out.

Our room at The Cheshire Mews is excellent. We are staying in The Blue John room, which is the largest. It's incredibly spacious, immaculately clean, modern, and comfortable with a huge bathroom. Our king-sized bed is so comfy. Location wise, it's perfect. Castleton has much to offer and all you need is on your doorstep. The Cheshire Mews is the perfect base.

The accommodation was spectacular! The beds were super comfy, probably the most comfortable ones I've stayed in away from home. A great location with many pubs close by and it was super quiet, I couldn't hear a thing. The bathroom was great, the shower was lovely and hot and powerful. There was nothing I would change it is perfect and I can't wait to visit again! When I visit again I will be sure to book this place! The blue John room is too notch!

Absolutely amazing place to stay. So clean, the bed is so comfortable and the bathroom perfect. Having a fridge as well, is a great addition. We always stay here when visiting Castleton. Ideal location. Would definitely recommend. Very professional. Can’t wait to return.
