My Hoole Convinence store & Post Office - Chester

As other reviewers have noted, this is not a good PO.
I wanted to post a small padded envelope.
The woman in there started poking it through the narrow slit thing they have. I have posted this before and protested.
She got all shirty with me.
So I paid the extra and I left.
A week later, I posted the same small padded envelope at Didsbury PO in Manchester. This was an actual Royal Mail PO not one of these franchise ones like Hoole.
No issue. None of the narrow slot rubbish.
They are either not properly trained or they are ripping people off.
Either way I won't be using this one again.

I also think if people want to post bad reviews they should at least use correct spellings and sentence structure. I do think however there is a customer service problem in here. Some staff do not appear happy, others of certain nationalties can be argumentative. When you ask for something to be delivered by recorded delivery, it is because your package is sensitive in nature. They ask you its contents, with a whole queue of people listening. Other than that the shop seems okay, but people do expect a decent level of customer service as the shop is in Hoole, or 'Notting Hoole'.

Closes nearly every 2 days for 3-4 hours to do "stock check" apparently, sometimes they close because "tills don't work" basically make any excuse for when they cba opening or busy doing something else even the 2 main parts of the postoffice are always closed, gone a right dump should either be took off who's running it or closed down.

Also on here they thank people for 5 star reviews yet can't take any criticism for how bad it is.

A week before flying over to abroad I needed an international driving permit (IDP) for the car hire. After trying several post offices which didn’t have any IDPs in & around where I live on a Sunday, which was a tall order. I tried one last attempt at Hoole post office & to my amazement the assistant happily presented to me one amongst others that he had. He was welcoming, polite & helping & thought what the fuss was about. Highly recommend this post office for anyone needing important documentation such as driving permits or passports.

Opens and closes whenever it wants. Was looking for a Post Office open on a Saturday. Travelled 8 miles. Should have been open until 17:00. Arrived at 14:30 to see a woman with a parcel trying the door. All an ignorant *** inside could say as explanation was "closed" twice. Shouldn't have a Post Office franchise. I will be contacting Royal Mail.

Great Post office, fantastic customer service, staff are very helpful and always smiling, they also make sure to go out there way to help. The new store section of the post office, has great prices, especially compared with business in the same area! Highly recommended

It's funny to observe the correlation between angry reviews of this shop and appalling spelling and grammar, maybe indicative of poor manners (correct spelling!) and a bad upbringing perhaps? The person complaining about their treatment when paying 67p in 2p coins may not be aware that as per the Coinage Act 1971, the owner was not obliged to accept this payment at all! The maximum payment allowed in 1p and 2p coins is 20p and even that is in settlement of a debt and does not apply to buying a stamp.

I have had a mixed experience of this shop, the new owner, who purchased the shop around 9 or 10 years ago does lack professionalism and can be abrupt at times. However, the other staff are always friendly, helpful and professional. I have deducted 2 stars for the rude owner but the staff that work hard should not be put down also. Keep up the good work!
