Despite seeing some very negative recent reviews, my friends and I decided to take a chance on this place anyway. It sounds like they've recently taken over the place so some leeway is needed for them to get on their feet.|We're glad we went, the buildings are really lovely and the staff were all extremely friendly! I slept so well, in one of the rooms in the outhouse buildings, bedding good quality and comfy. Great shower, lovely view! |We had dinner and it was expensive, but it was very good and felt it was worth it. |My feedback for improvement would be to work on the ambience- there was none! The restaurant and bar area had no background music playing- this makes all the difference! It was very quiet and there was no atmosphere. |I think there's a lot of potential with this little hotel/restaurant - just get up to date with a few things, add cocktails to your menu, offer water in the rooms, add some nice music and perhaps offer a later checkout for those that want it. |Overall money well spent and would go again.

We were recommended to try Home Farm restaurant by our accommodation at Rose Farm. I would highly rate the chef. Great tasting food, reasonably priced for the quality offered. Our only suggestions would be to train your waiting staff better, the two young ladies that were on call were sweet but had no idea! Presented and tried but just gauche! No wine cooler with the rose wine, no salt and pepper, not around and the place was virtually empty. Some background music would be appreciated. More advertising, better ambience and the restaurant would become a destination place to eat. We had the mushroom dish as a starter - sublime, then one duck dish and one lamb - cooked a little dry (we asked for ‘pink’) but the sauces wonderful. Didn’t like the blackberry ice but that was our choice as we thought it too sweet. If you’re in the area do try the food - well worth a visit if the staff could have some more training please! Sorry didn’t take any photos.

Great owner run hotel!

Very friendly welcome and room upgrade ( unsolicited) which is always well received 😀

Bedroom large and clean. Tv, tea/coffee facilties etc. Good wifi

Free car parking......virtually unheard of with the chain hotels

Breakfast was included for me. Breakfast times a bit limited (8-9am) but the owner did allow me to get something at 730. Breakfast menu picture attached.

No evening food, but local pub a 10 minute walk

Would stay again!!

Worst hotel we have stayed in! There was no welcome on the mat at all, when we walked in the girl didn't even look up at us or seem interested at all, showed us to our room. The room was very nice can't fault that at all also the layout of the hotel is nicely furnished. The food was terrible and extortionate prices for what was suppose to be a brilliant chef, he couldn't even cook a burger properly, it was raw and just a burger and few chips nothing else. Drinks on menu, didn't seem to have much of what on menu especially the wines. Breakfast was awful to!!! Other couples came down and we were all saying Faulty Towers!!!! They only seemed friendly to people they knew, don't think they spoke to us at all. No one ever around just left key on desk when we left!!! Will not be visiting again...........

So this is going to be a bit strange review.. I booked here for new years eve.. We arrived and was greeted by Craig who was so warm and welcoming and explained that had taken over between Xmas and New year now that is amazing. So we went to our room and had booked into the restaurant..
So we go down to eat and got introduced to the old owner Richard who was doing a working handover which is nice to help Craig settle in, but I think going to a little room to look at the menu then to restaurant was a bit strange and didn't like it, the menu consisted mostly of Thai food which was very nice but few English meals was weird especially as local fish harbour down the road.
Anyway the rooms were definitely not up to standard the rooms were dusty which few months of dust.
But I would like to say that Graig and his wife are taking over and excepted feedback to help with improving in areas.. We have said that we will definitely be going back to support Craig and Claire as big adventure and taking over at the most difficult time of the year and I like to congratulate them for the future..
Craig cooked the breakfast which was good..
This is set in Wilmington on the old A30 set just off the road.. So we will be definitely going back and I would recommend because was lovely place and friendly atmosphere
Thank you Craig for your hospitality and all the best for your future with your family in your new adventure.
Is closed for January to do work but reopening in February

The Thai food must be good otherwise I have no idea how this hotel has the reviews it does.

We have been travelling around the UK for a month now with a similar budget per night. This place is far and away the poorest value we have experienced.
The room was very tired and the bathroom in dire need of updating. For example… you couldn’t have a shower without holding the shower head yourself. The mattress was saggy and uncomfortable with broken springs and there was nothing charming about the decor.

The hotel is also situated on a main road with loud traffic noise through the night. Not a pleasant environment.

The cooked breakfast was okay however the pineapple was brown and looked as though it had been left out for three days.

Most importantly though, the owner was creepy and made us feel uncomfortable from our initial phone call and all through our stay. People are on their holidays and don’t want to listen to your whinging… perhaps it’s time for a new career?

Went for fish and chips Friday. Absolutely amazing. Good wine choices too. A must for tourists and locals! Can't wait to try the Sunday roast which was recommended by a customer. In all a fabulous cosy friendly atmosphere.

The owner responded to my wife the comments were completely untrue ,we were not rude to the staff when we arrived and at first she said she did not have a booking in my name ,I had to show the confirmation and she said I had booked a single room and the doubles were not made up !!
When the owner arrived after 1 hour he looked at us and said what do you want
I will say that the evening meal was perfect.
The rooms are tired and old ,as shown in my pics.

Go up
