A couple of weeks ago I did my regular two-year mobile phone upgrade, but, on this occasion kept my old phone, so I could either have a spare, or I could sell it privately.

I Googled where to sell back phones in the local Plymouth area, and immediately found 'Eazy Electronics', based some 15 or so miles from home. I made online contact, and Jonny Rose, who owns the business got back to me very promptly, and made a cash offer for my old phone.

Meanwhile, I had seen the 'Phone' equivalent of 'We buy Any Car.com' so asked them for a quote. They also came back with a prompt offer, and which was an improvement on Eazy Electronic's.

So I sent my phone off to them in the freepost envelope they sent me - I just had to go to the nearest Post Office and hand it in.

To be fair their communication was also good, and it was reassuring to be informed at every step.

Then, of course, came THE CATCH! We Buy Any Car is noted for going over your car like Police forensic experts, coming up with loads of faults you never suspected, knocking down the price until it is considerably less than what it was at the start.

It seems that We Buy Any Phone works in exactly the same way! They examined my phone like a piece of evidence in a murder trial, sending me unclear pictures of 'all' the damage they had found on the screen, and the back, and the report read like I had seriously mistreated the phone. With the naked eye, there was no visible damage whatsoever, save for a minute blemish at the top - I always had it in a protective case, and was extremely careful with it at all times. Their offer had consequently dropped by some £300!

They give you a few days to tell them to send it back, free of charge, but hope that you won't, so they get it for a song!

I did have it sent back which, again to be fair, didn't take long, and I went back to Jonny at Eazy Electronic's. In the nicest way, he had suggested that this would probably be the outcome, as a good number of his customers had had a similar experience.

Within a day or so, I met Jonny in person - a really great young man, who exuded complete honesty and total professionalism - and he kept to his original offer, QQwhich I accepted. Payment was made there and then via BACS transfer and, because I have a banking app on my phone, I could see that the transfer had gone through, before Jonny left the house with my phone in tow!

I would thoroughly recommend Jonny at Eazy Electronics if you want a hassle-free way of selling your old phone, and getting a decent and fair price for it. He always returns calls when promised, and was punctual, too!

I wish him every good wish going forward, as he deserves to develop a successful business! Thanks, Jonny! 😀 ☎️
