Great pub in local village location. the garden overlooks fields to the south.
6 real ales on tap is fantastic offering.
The Saturday lunch menu was made with quality ingredients cooked to perfection. I had the expertly cooked calves liver.

I've been a few times and all of the above vary between 2 and 4 stars.

I've chosen what feels right.

The pub feels like a locals place and a little unfriendly to visitors. The service is sometimes ok, sometimes terse and dismissive. For example:
Which beers do you have?
The ones you can see on the bar.
I can't see any because there's a row of people in front.
(silence)
I'll have the Gales ( after a struggle to read the labels)
That's off.

That gives you an idea.

We had a great evening here. A lovely country relaxed style pub in the quiet village. We only enjoyed the excellent selection of beers so I'm unable to comment on the food. but there appeared to be a good number of happy diners
The two girls.mamming the point that evening were having to cover both food and bar serving so were kept very busy, but happily. We spent most of the evening outdoors but inside it is very quaint and cosy.

My friend and I pop in for a pint after our hike occasionally, and there's always a welcoming atmosphere and good beer.

A small, lovely pub. The food was good and not too simple nor was it pretentious. The crowd was even friendly to a few Americans sitting in the corner.
