I recently visited the Congleton Post Office, and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. It’s disheartening to encounter such miserable staff, especially in a service-oriented environment.
As I approached the counter, I was met with a lack of greeting or any semblance of politeness. The male staff member, apparently in his early to mid-30s, was particularly rude. When I asked for some sellotape, he practically threw it at me with a side of scornful remarks. It was shocking to witness not only his behavior but also that of his colleague, a middle-aged woman, who joined in on the belittling. Instead of a helpful atmosphere, I felt judged for simply asking for a basic item.
The overall demeanor of the staff members gave the impression that they either don’t enjoy their jobs or simply lack the necessary people skills to provide even a minimum level of customer service. This is not the first time I have heard complaints about the staff’s attitude, and it seems evident that there is a pressing need for a change in personnel or at least some serious training in customer relations. The Congleton Post Office is in dire need of new staff who understand the importance of customer service. I hope to see a more welcoming and efficient environment in the future as it currently feels like a shadow of what it could be.

Opening hours are incorrect on Royal Mail website and on search engines, staff walk in at 9am to start their day, seems like only 1 person works here so lunch breaks etc aren’t covered, small post office at the main till is not operational and you are unable to buy stamps there it took nearly 20 mins for me to be served, post a 2nd class letter and buy a book of stamps. I dread to think what peak posting season will be like! At 9:10 this morning the queue was nearly out the door. I have complained via Royal Mail website and would recommend you feedback any negative experiences. Hopefully they can sort it out as I have had numerous bad experiences here

I don't post things very often, but when I do, I dread coming to this particular post office. Queue to the door almost every time. I've tried 3 times this week to post a parcel. Once I stood in the queue for 30 mins and had to just go back to work, as it barely moved.

Rude and unhelpful member of staff. It's the second time I've been served by this gentleman in the last week. Grey, slicked back hair and glasses perched on his nose. Last week I sent a small parcel to Jersey which then seemed to trigger a Spanish Inquisition-style litany of questions and scrutiny as to what I was sending and exactly WHY I was sending the contents. I understand details are needed for customs, but the attitude was unnecessary. He also spent nearly 10 minutes just talking to a colleague whilst I waited, and a queue formed, with no acknowledgement of us being there. Today I had some Amazon returns. I checked online and the Post Office do package less returns via Every for Amazon. I ended up so frustrated and going round in circles. Firstly it was my fault that they didn't have enough packages and I should clearly have known this before coming, them I was told "it doesn't matter what it says online, if the code isn't not accepted it's obviously not for us". So, even though Amazon's listings indicate the Post Office accepts packageless returns, I should know they're running low and it's my fault if they don't have enough packages, and secondly, even if the Post Office is listed as accepting that qr code, it's my fault he cant get it to scan. 10 minutes of my life I won't get back.

Only one position open. The member of staff was working hard, was polite and helpful. However, I try to avoid using this branch as there is always a long and slowly moving queue. I note the huge number of services that are offered including banking and parcel collection. With the closure of high street banks and more on line shopping, I can only imagine that things will get worse unless there are more desks open. Sorry that this is a negative review but the card I picked up at the counter says “we’d to hear about your visit today” and that the feedback “ really helps us”. As a long queue is nothing new at this branch I will not hold my breath!

Always slow service, have just come in as need to do a couple of jobs but only one person working today and has gone on his break with no one able to cover. So now have to wait half an hour as can’t come back later. Extremely inconvenient and no manager here to speak to. Would not recommend.this place if you have high blood pressure or expect going to the post office to be a simple experience

The staff clearly work hard within a challenging setup - the stars reflect the staff effort not the setup. There is clearly not enough allowance made for the staff hours, which provides for the 'norm' - that are large queues, that are often out of the door. With many large new build house projects in the area, the demographic of the local population (more elderly) and the lack of banks within the town it has become a sort of perfect storm that is getting increasing worse. Elderly / disabled persons shouldn't have to stand for a long time in long queues just to do the basics notwithstanding the local needs of the majority of the population to do whatever. It seems clear that more hours should be provided in order that both post-office windows can be manned and made available most if not all of the time as a norm. I hope that this feedback is seen as helpful.

Post Office should be open until 22:00, however lads are not trained to operate scanners. Please sort this out - or change the hours on Maps.
