I don't usually leave reviews other than to celebrate good experiences but I am really disheartened by the experience - I got some dance shoes here, was told they didn't have my usual size but not to worry as size up was perfect and a smaller size wouldn't fit, and that drawstring would make it just right. Felt a bit rushed out of the store but never mind that when you get good advice and service, trusted the seller given they were quite certain these were a good fit. But I get home, tried them on again and they're gaping and folding over excess leather at the toe. It didn't feel right is I checked online for advice and then went to another dance store for a second opinion and was told it's usual to size down in leather ballet shoes and now have a well fitting pair a full size down from an alternate shop. This would be fine if Dance of Hitchin had just made a mistake, this happens, everyone has rough days or is in a rush sometimes but I had asked about the gaping and was told it was fine and as I was handed the shoes without a bag or receipt I am not clear that I can return them. I'm sorry to leave a frustrated review because I think dance shops are really important and a magical place for young and old dancers and I really want to support independents but I don't think it's right for that to be an excuse for what felt a little bit like I was taken for a ride, now with a pair of shoes I can't use and out of pocket - something other dancers or parents of young dancers might not be able to afford to go through in this economy.

Went in for some ballet shoes and cardigan for my 2 year old. Great, friendly customer service. They immediately picked out the perfect sizes that still allowed room for growth and we were in and out within 5 mins.
