I initially went to Gail’s for the first time on the opening day at Hitchin and was very impressed with the selection and quality of food/drinks offered.
I have since been back a few times and each time try something different!

The staff were all polite happy and courteous. Seating area was very clean and bright with a nice atmosphere. I’m quite fussy about my coffee and this was good for me. Have no complaints, nice to see a young vibrant staff at work.

Such a lovely atmosphere – warm, welcoming, and perfect for coffee break. The staff are friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even more enjoyable.

The highlight for me was their cinnamon roll– absolutely delicious! Perfectly soft, with just the right balance of sweetness and spice. It’s a must-try if you visit.

Overall, a great spot to unwind and enjoy some amazing food.

The customer service was not good. Those behind the till seemed to be doing anything but serving. This might be solved by adding more staff and getting people who have been served to move down. When I was finally served, the service was abrupt.

There is no excuse for unclean cutlery.

The coffee was good but not great whilst the croissant and the salmon bagel were bland.

You’d get much better service, coffee and food at any of the independent coffee shops in Hitchin.

I hope that you can improve as I recognise that you’ve only just opened.

A bit deflated after our visit to try the new Gail's store in Hitchin. I had high hopes after I had been to a couple on London but it felt drab, very commercialised and clinical. The food was OK but was lacking all the breads and nice sandwiches. The Americano and cappuccino coffees were very basic, nothing special and was served with no napkins, no water on the side (table next to us had all this).
There are sooooo many amazing coffee shops there that Gail's has to up their game.the biggest problem for us was atmosphere and non existent service after we sat down.
Oh the toilet also was quite dirty with a lot of water on the floor.

Good selection of different savoury and sweet treats. Service friendly and efficient. What let it down for us was cleanliness - our table wasn’t clean, the aluminium trays that carry your food and drink weren't really clean, and there was food debris on the floor. In the time we were in there 4 tables became empty and no one cleared or cleaned them, customers had to shuffle used cups and plates around to be able to use the table.
