Not impressed with the service following a manufacturers recall on the EGR cooler on our Mini. I had two independent garages look at the car after Group 1 failed to admit there was a fault with the EGR valve. Instead they came up with other issues that was causing the horrendous squealing noise. I appreciate the recall was only for the cooler and not the egr but the service department said we will inspect the egr at the same time and if it needs replacing we will do it at the same time. Now either that is not Group 1's policy and someone is trying to cover up their mistake or two independent garages were wrong. I have since had the egr valve replaced with Complete Commercials in Farnham and the noise has now gone.

If you want a quality service that is not going to lie to you and rip you off I suggest using another BMW franchise.

Abysmal customer service from the service department. Booked our car in for a diagnostic check for two very common manufacturing faults on a Mini F56 (rolling away error and corroded wiring loom due to leaking washer pipe).

Barons quoted £4k to fix these issues. I requested a good will contribution as frankly the affected parts are not fit for purpose if they are going to break so easily despite being cared for properly.

What made things ten times worse is they went silent as soon as I put in the good will request meaning for a period of about 3 months I had to ring upwards of 30 times, leaving a message asking for a callback, and never got a response. These are incredibly common faults, but when I finally did make some contact, Barons told me that even if they are manufacturing faults on Mini’s part, they don’t have to help fix them. They also claimed it was due to lack of service history despite never asking for the service history from me.

If you want to get either of the above faults fixed, you’re better off speaking to an auto electrician or an independent dealer who will fix them at a fraction of the price.

Additionally, my parents have bought 5 new cars from Barons over the years but are still treated poorly, loyalty is not a known concept at Barons it would seem - I would avoid them at all costs.

I have since sold our Mini, but while doing so, got in touch with Vines who were not only extremely courteous but also helped try to find a buyer even though they were not interested in buying it them self. If you want a Mini dealer, go to Vines! Barons don’t even deserve 1 star, but unfortunately there is no option for 0 stars.

Had online chat with them on Saturday plus rang and spoke to receptionist about bringing my car into their service department both said someone would call me back, 5 days later still waiting. Suffice to say I’ve taken my business elsewhere. A new potential regular customer lost. Unfortunately it doesn’t allow me to give no stars!

Had the absolute pleasure of dealing with Toby Green over the past month or so, with an approved used Mini. Professional manor and kept me in the loop. Efficient and not pushy. Will recommend anyone to come to group 1 Hindhead. Collected my car today, and no question was too much! Definitely would recommend!

Really disappointed that this dealership. Said they were interested in buying my Mini outright for their used stock, they had all the details of the car prior to asking me to come in so they could assess its value. After the inspection, they offered a price which I was happy with only to be phoned a few days later to tell me they didn't want the car anymore as it was "too basic" - you knew it was a base model before asking me to come in? In future, I suggest you check with "management" first, before wasting time asking people to come in to value a car you have not intention of buying. Complete waste of time.

Having paid a premium for an approved Mini, I am disappointed to have discovered that the MOT expired within 3 months of purchase and that the major the oil, spark plug and air filter service were aloso due.. no mention of this was made at time of purchase but we were repeatedly offered . Tyre. Paint and wheel insurance!
Due to the distance I took to our local Mini dealer for service who advised that after less than 1k. One front tyre needs immediate attention. One is border line and front brake pads have approximately 1500 miles on them.
Fair to say I would not recommend Group 1 approved Mini

Staff friendly and helpful.
Initial booking process over the phone was easy.
Automated check in system over complicated with too many questions.
Online mechanic's summary useful.
Poor communication on readiness of vehicle - tried to ring service three times as we'd not had notification that the vehicle was ready past the time that it was due. On the last attempt to contact service waited 4.5 minutes for the phone to be answered. Staff were very apologetic.
Invoice came in slightly higher than the figure quoted when booking the service and MOT.
Car was washed and vacuumed but this would have been chargeable if I'd not had a complementary voucher from a previous visit.
