I knew from the start that I wasn’t going to get a dress from a wedding dress boutique and, with a stroke of luck, stumbled across Ailsa’s website! She so beautifully captured whimsy, elegance and magic in her wedding dresses that I knew she was the one. Ailsa knew what I wanted before I did, and somehow created something beautiful and perfectly me. The dress turned out beautifully with some lovely little details (including my Chinese name written by my family hand embroidered on the inside!), and it was so comfortable to wear all day. Not only was the dress perfect, my experience with Ailsa was such a comfortable and fun one. I would recommend Ailsa to anyone looking for a fairytale experience with a bespoke gown.

Ailsa’s just fantastic. I had a pretty vague idea of what I wanted, but she sketched and made my absolute dream dress from a Pinterest board that was 90% Little Women and 10% puff sleeves.
All of Ailsa’s suggestions and fitting tweaks were spot on; the dress fitted perfectly and was so comfortable to wear. She was totally on board with wedding boots and muddy hems and made a dress I could quite comfortably clamber down a riverbank in November in.
As well as being super talented Ailsa is just such a fun person to chat to. She’s so funny and knowledgable - whether you need a French Revolution fashion fact, or a brunch recommendation. It really was so much fun going to fittings and I would absolutely recommend her. Thanks so much Ailsa!

I’m so happy that I came across Ailsa’s dreamy work because having her make my wedding dress was such a joy. I was really struggling to not only find a dress but envision what I wanted my dress to look like, going back and forth between super simple, functional designs and fairytale gowns. During our initial consultation, Ailsa managed to take the jumble of ideas in my head and design a vintage-inspired dress that would allow me to run around the Scottish woodlands while still looking light and whimsical. Once we made things official, she continued this collaborative process by working with me to nail down my dress materials and colors. I landed on a soft pink silk crepe and silk chiffon dress that has been described as both “Renaissance swan princess” and for a “fairy that lives in a flower”, which both feel like accurate descriptions of the beautiful, bespoke dress I had the pleasure of wearing during my outdoor elopement.

I absolutely cannot say enough good things about my experience with Ailsa. She is smart, talented, creative, patient, supportive, inclusive, and always game to think outside the box! As a tall, plus size femme who prefers to dress like sleepy royalty, it was a real struggle trying to find a wedding dress I loved. After a whole lot of searching, I found Ailsa, and I fell in love with her work instantly. Despite me living in Canada and her living in the UK, she made the dress making process so accessible and easy, not to mention exciting and delightful. I knew I never wanted the bridal boutique experience, as a plus sized bride this side of the industry never interested me. I searched for designers who I could work with to design something I would feel comfortable in and I stumbled across Ailsa after a little searching. Her style is awesome and was what I was looking for.

Ailsa is lovely to and knew what I wanted straight away. Due to the pandemic we had to reschedule our wedding twice and also in the first year my husband and I held a commitment ceremony for which Ailsa made me a second linen dress which was awesome, Doug loved this dress and the colour was spot on for the landscape of Skye.

After three years from the original meeting I put on weight and actually went up two dress sizes. Ailsa had to remake the top part of my dress at 5 months pregnant but got it done and delivered within the last two months before our wedding.

I have the pleasure of owning two dresses made by Ailsa, they were a joy to wear on both occasions.

I am so delighted with the result - Ailsa has a way of knowing exactly what you need (when you're not even sure yourself) and her craftswomanship is second to none. I love her designs - all so clearly influenced by a background in classic art and period dress but beautifully applied to suit the modern person. I really wish she'd create an every day range because I would buy every design that she made!
