£5 minimum on card… It’s appalling to see this is still happening in London.

The UK is well on its way to becoming a cashless society. There are rules set out by card networks which state that any merchant accepting their cards cannot set a maximum or minimum limit.

Setting a minimum spend on card payments is a violation of these rules and can result in a hefty fee or account suspension. Having said that, these rules are rarely enforced.

We must find a way to report shops like these…

Very convenient for grabbing a drink or Icecream and sitting by the river. Good selection of stock. Not the cheapest. Only take card payments above £5.

Quite depressing and not a lot of quality stock. Given the poshness of the area it’s surprising this place exists here, rather than a Waitrose etc.

Got few oranges from this place, not the cheapest, but look like old and dry - no juice

If I could, I would give no stars to the miserable, elderly store assistant who I believe treated me differently because I didn’t look like him. What happened to polite customer service? I only intended paying for a bunch of bananas and I just happen to be a melanated, retired woman. ?
To confirm my suspicions, my husband made a purchase after I left the “Super Store” and he was addressed as “Sir” and politely treated. Excuse me, what happened? ? Oh, I forgot to mention that my husband is white!
My advice to those who are melanated - go somewhere else and spend your money!

One member of staff here, not all, is very rude. I've had occasions where he (long haired guy in 20s/30s) didn't even look at me whilst mentioning the bill (meaning coins fell onto counter from his outstretched hand) and another occasion where he tried to overcharge me; when I pointed out the listed price on the shelf he said "just put the money on the counter". Incredibly rude and it's sad that one member of staff puts me off an otherwise quite well stocked shop.

Wanted to buy something for under a fiver and not realising there was a minimum spend. The shopkeeper just pointed to the minimum spend sign. So I asked him if there was a bank machine to which he pointed to one behind me which charges for withdrawals. So I asked him if there was a bank machine in the area and this seemed to annoy him leading to him being abrupt and rude and raising his voice towards me. Now I'm not from the area and wouldn't say his attitude is good fpr tourists. Very uncalled for and will never shop there again. Rather just go to the BP station or M&S.

Lovely shopkeeper. I stopped in very thirsty during a long run to buy a drink, and realised I had no way of paying. He was kind enough to say I should take the drink anyway and pay him back another time. Very kind!
