Great resource. I have used this to ask questions and got gems of advice.

Started small business many years ago and always come across a few issues in business that I never encountered before and ukbf was always useful.

Be humble. Ask questions and expect good and bad replies. Don't take the harsh inquisitors too seriously. Take the gems and move on.

Having been a member of UKBF for several years, I find the site an incredible resource. It has been both a dependable knowledge base and an excellent opportunity to be introduced to potential clients. The community is incredible and a joy to be a part of.

Atrocious.

We paid for an upgraded account, but our reviews were constantly deleted by moderators, or moved to an "advertising" forum that had hardly any views or replies (a tiny fraction of every other forum on the site).

We paid to upgrade, in order to post in specific categories. We were looking for small businesses to use our software free of charge (normally £100 per month), in return for feedback on new features. No matter what we did, they continuously classes this as advertising, despite it costing us a fortune and the recipient saving themselves the service fee.

We've since been re-billed for another year up front, prior to the expiry of our current year's subscription, and have been declined a refund as we didn't cancel before they took the payment.

Avoid this company.

I joined many years ago to get some advice and over time, have received lots of it, as well as given a bit.

New posters sometimes forget that they do not always get the advice they want (but they do need), as people with experience and knowledge normally tell it the way it is rather than the way the poster wants to hear it!

The forum has also improved in the past year, following a change in ownership.

Signed up in 2016, haven't posted a single topic, recently logged in and started a conversation with a potential UK-based furniture supplier. Turn out the "supplier" is in fact an Indian, with no base in the UK. Was not even able to provide a website URL for his business. Now logged in again only to discover that my account has been banned because of spamming? Excuse me? When and who did I spam? No help link or no admin contact available either. Horrendous service. Do not ever use this site.

I’ve been a member of UKBF for a number of years and whilst there will always been idiot posters most of the threads are helpful and give good advice. And if you use it properly it can be a really good source of leads. And the owner is a really nice bloke.
